|
Georgia Department of Transportation SR 400 Express Lanes
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is studying new express lanes to extend from the North Springs MARTA Station to McFarland Parkway. The project proposes building two, buffer-separated express lanes in each direction between the North Springs MARTA Station and McGinnis Ferry Road, and building one, buffer-separated express lane in each direction from McGinnis Ferry Road to McFarland Parkway. You can review materials here relating to this proposal and then submit a public comment here. All public comments are due by September 22.

Give Us Your Feedback on Proposed Concepts Using North End Shopping Centers
The City of Sandy Springs is conducting a series of virtual public open house meetings to seek feedback on concepts for four shopping centers in the North End of Sandy Springs.
There are three draft concepts for each shopping center. The concept plans are intended to illustrate how the community’s vision for reimagining the North End can be realized through a variety of recommendations, uses, and intensities for the four shopping centers within the study area. The designs are not development proposals by the property owners, but rather illustrative concepts that might spur the highest and best uses of key properties in this redevelopment area. Each plan will include economic analysis based on market conditions, and will consider the financial feasibility of including how to add additional households within the district, looking at a variety of housing types at a variety of price points.
To provide ample opportunity for public input, draft concepts are being released using a phased schedule. The feedback will be used to help design final conceptual plans. The community will have the opportunity to provide input on the updated conceptual plans again in late fall 2020.
Upcoming Virtual Public Open Houses:
8830 Roswell Road: North River Shopping Center
Public Comment Period: September 7 - September 14, 2020
7300 Roswell Road: North Springs Shopping Center (Former Big Lots)
Public Comment Period: September 14 - September 21, 2020

Sandy Springs Mask Ordinance
On August 20, 2020, the Sandy Springs City Council passed an Ordinance, which requires individuals to wear a mask or face covering when in public spaces and not able to maintain a six-foot distance. In keeping with the Governor’s Order, private businesses can choose to require or not; however, the City’s ordinance requires that businesses that opt-out must post a notice to that effect at its entranceways.
For Businesses which choose to require masks, we have created a poster and handbill in English & Spanish versions that promote mask wear. Find it here.
For Businesses which choose to opt out of the mask requirement, we’ve provided a sign that can be downloaded and placed at the business entranceways. The language matches the requirements in the ordinance. Find it here.
Enforcement: It is up to the individual business to enforce mask wear within the business.

Mask Up to Take COVID Down
Posters and signage are going up in spaces around the city to “Mask Up to Take COVID Down.” If some of the faces in the campaign look familiar, you may be looking into the eyes of friends, family, or neighbors. On Facebook, we asked residents to send us photos showing their mask wear. We are using some of these images as part of our campaign. You can send us your Mask Up photo to: [email protected]
