What is Illumination?
Illumination is a temporary art exhibition with a series of public art displays using the element of light to paint the facades of downtown Canton.

Illumination is being held in conjunction with the Canton Museum of Art’s centerpiece exhibition, "Dancing in the Light: Masterworks from the Age of American Impressionism".

When is it happening?
Illumination will take place weekend evenings in January and February 2021.

"Dancing in the Light: Masterworks from the Age of American Impressionism", will open at the Canton Museum of Art on November 27, 2020 and be on exhibit through March 7, 2020.

Where will it take place?
Start at the Cultural Center for the Arts, where a centerpiece exhibition by OBLSK will transform the space between the Cultural Center for the Arts and the Canton Memorial Civic Center into an animated, immersive light show.

Continue when and where you choose, to take in five additional light installations and projections throughout the downtown area specially commissioned for this event. Specific locations to be announced at a later date.

Who is involved?
ArtsinStark and Visit Canton are working together to facilitate this major arts initiative in collaboration with the Canton Museum of Art’s special exhibition, "Dancing in the Light: Masterworks from the Age of American Impressionism".

OBLSK, a team of artists, inventors, and designers, is the creative marketing agency generating the unforgettable, projection mapping and immersive art experience at the Cultural Center for the Arts.

How are additional artists being selected?
A call for artists is now open. Five individual or artist teams will be selected to create temporary, public light art installations throughout downtown Canton with an awarded budget of $2,000 each.  Applications are due October 9, 2020.  Find more information in the Request for Qualifications.
