Back to School, Back to Work

Here we are at September already! Where has the time gone?! With the turning of the calendar, I have a few Chamber meetings and events to note as you begin to fill your fall calendar.

Our Business Advocacy Committee meetings will resume on the first Wednesday of each month at 12:00pm in the Chamber of Commerce Board Room. All members are welcome to join us for discussions about issues impacting the business community. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, September 4 .

Tradeshow Committee meetings will also resume in September. They are usually the first Thursday of the month, also at 12:00pm in the Chamber Board Room, however the September trade show meeting will take place on the 12th. Our 2020 Spring Expo will be April 24 & 25 at the Badlands Community Facility. If you would like to be involved in the planning of this event through our committee, please let Marley know .

Our Lunch N’ Learn sessions will also return this month. On September 24 from 11:30am-1:00pm at the Canalta Conference Centre, we are pleased to have the Drumheller RCMP detachment coming to present on crime prevention for business. Call Marley at 403-823-8100 or go online to to register. Read more

  • Our local A&W collected approximately $3000 in donations on Burgers to Beat MS day
  • The Town of Drumheller held a Dunk Tank at the Downtown Plaza on Aug. 31 with proceeds going towards the Badlands Youth Centre
  • Traders Furniture is celebrating the 1 year anniversary of their Drumheller store!

Beginning in September, each Friday from 11:30am-1:00pm Community Futures will be running free informative sessions on a variety of topics. September's sessions are:

Bring Your Business Issues to the Business Advocacy Committee

Does your business have an issue that you would like to get help with? The Business Advocacy Committee would love to hear more about it! Meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 12:00pm in the Chamber board room. September 4 is the next meeting. All are welcome to attend.

Customer Service Training in Strathmore

This workshop will help you identify the role you can play in helping an employer execute their customer relations strategy. You will also learn how you can effectively deal with difficult customers, and how you can play a role in setting and executing a high level of customer service standards.

CyberSecure Program for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

The federal government has recently announced the launch of the new CyberSecure Canada program. CyberSecure Canada is a voluntary cyber security certification program that will help small and medium-sized organizations achieve a baseline level of cyber security , giving their customers greater confidence and providing these organizations with a competitive advantage. Youth Volunteers Needed

The Family Fun Committee is hosting a Wellness Workshop for families on Saturday September 28 from 9:00am – 3:30pm. The committee is looking for youth volunteers to help the adult staff with activities for children attending the event. If you know of any youth (must be grade 10 and up) who love working with kids and need volunteer hours for school please contact Laura Dougan , Community Services Coordinator for the Town of Drumheller, at (403) 823-1365.
