Goldenrod
Bright yellow plumes for the end of summer
| Solidago, or goldenrod, is a group of herbaceous perennial plants in the aster family. Several species available are native to North America. The bright yellow blooms appear towards the end of summer and persist through fall. The bloom time makes it a great pollinator plant, particularly for migrating monarchs. It is easy to grow; the plant prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Goldenrod is often mistaken for ragweed, which causes allergies. Being an insect pollinated plant, rather than a wind pollinated plant, it has no affect on allergies. | | |
