Catch up on John O’Sullivan's visit this August, where he hosted a Club-wide education session for our coaches! The full video of his presentation is now available on the CRYSC website, along with a recap and some thoughts from Let Us Play Director, Brian Sheehan.
“Once again, it was great to see John in his element speaking to coaches and mentoring us all on our coaching journeys. Like players, every coach has a diverse set of needs and experiences, and it’s impressive to witness John’s ability to deliver relevant content for everyone. Specifically, John’s ability to highlight the core facets of CRYSC’s player development plan as essential to any young person’s growth within the context of soccer was powerful. John inspires all of us as coaches to know our players, let them lead, and create a game realistic environment where players feel safe to take risks and be brave.” - Let Us Play Director, Brian Sheehan.

SPORTS MEDICINE | INJURY PREVENTION

Head Athletic Trainer, Julie Graves, teamed up with UCHealth this month to create a new blog highlighting the steps YOU can take to help prevent injuries on the field this season!
"When an injury occurs you are losing out on practice and time to improve your technique in your sport. The body part needs to heal completely before gradually starting a return to play program so that re-injury doesn’t happen. A lot of the time, this can be avoided with proper injury prevention techniques and education.”... read more by clicking here or following the link below!

SPORT PSYCHOLOGY | SUICIDE AWARENESS MONTH
YOU MATTER - YOU ARE IMPORTANT - YOU ARE VALUED - YOU ARE LOVED
"Suicide, while massively important, is a tough topic; it isn’t one that people itch to discuss. It’s uncomfortable. It’s scary. For many of us, it’s personal. I know that is the case for me, which is why - no matter how many times I write on suicide - it still hurts. It’s still hard. The cost of not writing, reading, and talking about it, though, is far too high." Read CRYSC Mental Performance Director, Katie Pagel's blog post by clicking the link above or below + check out the video for a bit of inspiration from your friends at Rapids Youth Soccer!
If you or someone you know is at risk of suicide or experiencing a mental health crisis, call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. Please note that the content of this blog may be triggering; if you need to step away, or read it with the support of a loved one, please do so.
