Is CCIH Meeting Our Goal of Greater Gender and Racial Diversity?
One of our goals at CCIH is to achieve gender and racial diversity for our events, including our Annual Conference. As more organizations are acknowledging the need to address these issues and diversify, it also has to be done in a thoughtful and intentional manner.

Learn more about how CCIH is working to meet this goal in our latest blog post by CCIH Administrative Coordinator, May Poduschnick.

CCIH Climate Adaptation Landscape Analysis
Climate change has the largest negative effects on those in low- and middle-income countries, increasing existing inequities and injustices. Many faith-based organizations (FBOs) are experiencing this first hand in their communities and programs and believe that action is essential. Adaptation measures are being implemented in many countries but scale up is essential to the health and flourishing of humankind. The purpose of the study - Faith Engagement in Climate Adaptation in Low and Middle Income Countries: A Landscape Analysis Focused on CCIH Member Perspectives and Initiatives for Christian Connections for International Health (CCIH) - is to understand how its organizational members are addressing climate adaptation and understand the knowledge and capacity gaps in order to initiate engagement in this area.

CCIH is forming ideas based on this around strengthening adaptation measures, and welcomes your input.

The study was conducted and prepared by CCIH Program Advisor, Carolyn O'Brien, and former CCIH intern, Dr. Emmanuel Ardiabah.
World Relief Faith Leader Engagement Tools
CCIH is a subgrantee of USAID's five-year Strengthening Community Outcomes through Positive Engagement (SCOPE) Project, which aims to reduce preventable maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Haiti, Kenya, Malawi, and South Sudan by engaging community health workers, faith leaders and community groups to advance reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health. As prime for the SCOPE project, World Relief has developed tools to equip faith leaders to engage and support this work. For more information on SCOPE's faith leader engagement and tools, please visit: SCOPE Faith Engagement - World Relief.

Get Involved: CCIH Working Groups

  • Data and Mapping Working Group
  • Integration of Faith and Health Working Group
  • Health of Women and Children Working Group
  • Leadership and Governance Working Group

Join a CCIH News and Discussion Group
From general CCIH news to grant notice alerts to discussion groups on specific global health issues, we have a variety of Google groups to meet your interests and needs.

The CCIH-News group is an easy way for you to share your organization’s upcoming events, findings from your work and other news with other CCIH members. Visit the Group Page and select Join the Group to subscribe. It’s easy to send a message! Once you have joined, you can send a message to the group by emailing CCIH-news@googlegroups.com.
We need to hear from you for this new section of our newsletter! Each month we will focus on a topic or theme that relates to the work we share in global health.

For October, we are continuing our theme on Leadership and Governance and our question for you is:

What are one or two specific ideas you put in practice over the past two years that you believe helped you or your organization weather the storm?

It could be something simple or more elaborate, but please be specific to help those who are in similar situations. We can all learn from each other, so please don't hesitate to share.

Email Hannah.Fields@ccih.org by October 10 if you have tips to share.

We hope you will participate and we look forward to hearing from you!
Advocacy Update with Bob Noziglia
CCIH is working on advocacy on a number of fronts. In addition to our work with coalitions and reaching out to policymakers in the US, we’re talking with our members about how we can be helpful in local and national advocacy in other countries. We’ll be sharing brief tips on a regular basis and are also working on a larger set of tools we will share later this year.

Advocacy Tip of the Month

Leverage Networks

Networking is a combination of art and skill. When discussing advocacy opportunities with faith leaders, ask about their own networks. They may not directly know policy makers, but they may have people in their own network that do, and who may be willing to help arrange meetings to support global health.

If you would like more information about CCIH advocacy efforts or would like to become involved, reach out to Bob.Noziglia@ccih.org for more information.
