September Cougar Chronicle
Welcome Back!
Dear Parents,
Welcome Back to School. We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and the hallways filled with enthusiasm and energy for learning. It is our commitment to enrich your child’s spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and social development. By nurturing strong Catholic virtues and moral values, each child is prepared to enter an ever-changing society. Our ultimate goal is to inspire every child to reach his/her fullest potential.
Each year we embark on a school-wide theme. Keeping in mind our commitment to your child, this year we are going to explore the Virtues presented in The Children's Book of Virtues. This is an ideal storybook for us to enjoy together.

As Catholics we believe: A virtue is a habitual and firm disposition to do good. It allows the person not only to perform good acts, but to give the best of himself. The virtuous person tends toward the good with all his sensory and spiritual powers; he pursues the good and chooses it in concrete actions.

The stories presented in The Children's Book of Virtues introduces children to the essentials of good character: Courage, Perseverance, Responsibility, Work, Self-discipline, Compassion, Faith, Honesty, Loyalty, and Friendship. Each month the students will learn about the virtue as well as learn how to incorporate it into their lives. My monthly letter in the Cougar Chronicle will address the virtue your children are learning about in the classroom. Our goal is to lead young minds toward what is noble, gentle, and fine.

Are you interested in being a room parent for your child's class this year? At Back to School Night, on Tuesday, September 10th, each teacher will be asking for volunteers to be the Class Room Parent. Please see the description below to learn more about this important role. We appreciate your interest in lending a hand!!

Just a quick reminder to all parents of Preschoolers; Flu shots are mandatory for children under 5 years of age. Please be sure to make an appointment with your child's MD as flu shots become available for families in mid October. Last year was a miserable Flu season and the sooner your child is vaccinated, the sooner the protection is established for your child. Be aware that Flu shots go quickly, so please make that appointment as soon as you can. I will need confirmation of the Flu shot once it is obtained.
