"We are very thankful for a discover scholarship opportunity to allow Yuri to continue her Gymnastics journey. She had started gymnastics when she was 5 years old and promoted to the competition level by 2nd grade. She had trained in Basel gymnastics in Spring and moved to Stars gymnastics of Houston 2 years ago. She is now in level 7-8 gymnast working 4 hrs a day. Her new floor and beam routine are Michael Jackson's "Beat it" and showing the moonwalk on the floor! Gymnastics helped her to grow as a person, she is learning perseverance, friendship, good balance of health and nutrition and academics. She is a dual citizen of US and Japan, continuing her Japanese education at Japanese school also. We hope to see her in Olympics either as American or Japanese someday."
