Each month, we will share with families a Digital Citizenship newsletter. We would like to share with you information around the technology being used in the Mentor Schools along with resources to support your child's education.

Tech and Learning Survey - Results

This past Spring, we administered a Technology and Learning survey for the eighth consecutive year. We continue to use this information to drive many of the technology initiatives in the district. Below, you will find a few snapshots of the results from this survey. The first chart shows the overall results broken down into 4 categories (Classroom Use, Access, Skills, and Environment). Our district continues to be in the Advanced Rating when all four categories are calculated.  The next two charts show parent's beliefs around the use of technology. Thank you to all of the parents, students and staff that participated to provide us with meaningful perspectives.

Technology Used to Support Learning

Since it is the start of the school year, we thought it was important to share with you how you can access your child's Learning Management System (LMS). We use SeeSaw in grades K-3 and Schoology in grades 4-12. If you are having any problems accessing your child's LMS, please email their teacher or it-support@mentorschools.org. Below are directions for how to access each LMS.

Parents for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade will have an opportunity to see some of their child's work through a SeeSaw Parent Connection. Many families already have a connected account from past years, but if you do not, you should have received / or will receive and invite link from your child's teacher. Once connected, you will be able to view your child's work.

Parents for students in Grades 4-12 can access their Parent Schoology account by using this Schoology Login page and follow the instructions below:

  • Type in your primary email address under Username. Select Forgot Password.
  • Once you select Forgot Password, type in your email address one more time. You will then be sent an email from Schoology to complete the process.

If you have any problems accessing your Parent Schoology account, please email it-support@mentorschools.org

Taking Advantage of Infinite Campus

Infinite Campus / Parent Portal is Mentor Schools' Student Information System. Infinite Campus is used for attendance, grades, missing assignments, communication and most recently has been used for payments for lunch, WeCare and other school fees and activities. Having a Parent Portal account will help you stay up to date and also allow you to check in on how your child(ren) is doing in school. If you need help setting up your Parent Portal account, please email it-suport@mentorschools.org.

Technology at Home

Our help desk email - it-support@mentorschools.org, continues to be here to support our students and parents with IT issues. Over the last year, we have compiled the most common reasons we receive it-support emails. Some of these issues can be solved by trying one of the following:

  • Restart the device
  • Restart your Router (unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in)
  • Keep liquids away from devices

If your child continues to have an issue with their device, please follow this step to get that fixed as soon as possible:

  • K-5 Let the teacher know who will then put in a ticket (a loaner can be issued until a tech can fix the problem).
  • 6-8 Take the Chromebook to the media center (a loaner can be issued until a tech can fix the problem).
  • 9-12 Students should take their MacBook to the GenYes Desk in the Hub (a loaner can be issued until a tech can fix the problem).
