Guthrie Opportunity Center
For more than 50 years, the Guthrie Opportunity Center Foundation (GOCF) has been a place where ability shines. What began in 1974 as Nelson County Industries has grown into a vibrant nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In 2011, with strong community support, GOCF established a permanent home in an 85,000-square-foot facility in Bardstown. Today, that space is filled with programs that nurture skills, friendships, and community connections.
- On-the-Go-Foods is a lively kitchen and carryout café where individuals we support prepare meals, fulfill catering orders, and cook for Meals from the Heart, which provides nearly 17,000 meals each year to neighbors in need.
- GOQuest offers daily programming that builds independence, confidence, and joy through life skills training and community engagement.
- The Garden Program connects participants to the land, cultivating vegetables and flowers that bring beauty and nourishment to Bardstown.
- On-the-Go-Logistics gives participants hands-on experience supporting community events in our event space while providing hospitality skills.
Much of this work happens because of our partnerships. Local restaurants, shops, schools, hospitals, factories, and nonprofits join with us to create opportunities and open doors. Volunteers help in the kitchen and garden. Donors invest in our mission. Families trust us with their loved ones. At the end of the day, GOCF is about community and making sure everyone has a place to belong, and to be valued.
