September 2019: What's New
Early Learning Center gets a fresh new look for fall
The Early Learning Center (ELC) building has gotten spruced up for the new school year! Thanks to a generous grant from the Garneau Nicon Family Foundation, we were able to paint the exterior of the ELC in a fresh new navy blue color with smart white trim.

The doors have also gotten a fun upgrade: the front door has been painted orange, and the back doors to our four classrooms are each painted a different color from the Encompass logo:
Additionally, we had a group of volunteers from Avanade come out on September 13 to clean up the grounds and tackle other projects that needed fixing.
Thank you for Dining Out for Encompass on September 15
Thank you for bringing your friends, family, and coworkers out to support our It Starts Here campaign to build a new Encompass pediatric therapy clinic and early learning center in Snoqualmie.

School Starts at Encompass for Preschoolers and Toddler Groups
Blog Post: Getting the Answers Parents Always Long to Know
September means back to school time! As kids begin to get settled into their new school routines, it can seem there are so many questions that are left unanswered: How long is it going to take to get settled into our new school? How will our children adjust to their new teacher? What did my child do throughout the day? Will my child stand up for their peer who may be getting picked on? How does my child feel about school?

In our most recent blog post, Encompass Speech-Language Pathologist Ashley Egger, MS, CCC-SLP, shares her top tips for getting real answers out of your children beyond the dreaded “I dunno,” “I don’t remember,” or “It was fine.”
New Toddler Groups
Encompass is launching two new toddler groups this fall: one in Issaquah for Birth to Three Early Intervention families and a bilingual (Spanish-English) group in Duvall.

Stay tuned for updates about when and where these groups will meet! When finalized, the dates will be posted on our events calendar.
Public Parent Survey Drawing Winner
Congratulations to Rebecca for winning our Public Parent Survey prize drawing! Rebecca's name was chosen at random from all our survey participants to receive a $100 Amazon card.

Thank you to everyone who filled out our survey this year. We had the highest response rate yet, with 139 people submitting responses. Your input will help us improve our programs!
Parent Talks Back for the Fall!
Encompass Parent Talks are informal sessions at local libraries where you can drop in to chat about parenting and raising young children. Each month, the facilitator will have tips and information on a relevant topic. Stop by to learn, share, and get to know fellow parents who are going through the same things as you and your family.

Children are welcome and no preregistration is required—join us for one or all sessions and let’s talk! Parent Talks happen monthly at the Issaquah, Fall City, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Carnation, and Duvall libraries.

Here are the upcoming topics:
  • Late Sept./Early Oct.: Resilience
  • Late Oct./Early Nov.: Understanding Temperament
  • Late Nov./Early Dec.: Executive Functioning and Self-Regulation

Check out our events calendar on our website for upcoming dates, times, and locations!

Acknowledgments & Thanks
Thank you to Day of Caring volunteers from Avanade and General Dynamics
On Friday, September 13, Encompass was flooded with a team of enthusiastic volunteers for United Ways' annual Day of Caring. The Early Learning center hosted 36 employees from Avanade, who were volunteering with us for their 5th year in a row. They cleaned, weeded, painted, restocked, and fixed things throughout the building, inside and out.
We also had a new-to-us team of 13 from General Dynamics at our Carnation Preschool trimming hedges, weeding, painting, and more.

Thank you to all these volunteers for donating your time to helping Encompass!
Garneau Nicon Family Foundation awards $15,000 to repaint Early Learning Center
The beautiful repainting of our Early Learning Center was only possible through the generosity of the Garneau Nicon Family Foundation. With their grant of $15,000 we hired Mercer Painting to give the building a fresh new life.

Thank you to Garneau Nicon Family Foundation for giving our Early Learning Center a bright and welcoming new look for our preschoolers!
