Upcoming Needs Assessment

The Tri-County Office on Aging is conducting a needs assessment to reach Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham County residents.

The goal is to connect with our community to discuss the availability of programs and services for older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers at a local level. This information will help shape the agency’s Multi-Year Plan objectives and activities for 2027-2029.

We welcome residents to share their opinions, interests and needs related to issues such as transportation, housing, daily needs, and access to information and resources.

Share your thoughts through the survey (open through November 15) or join us for a Community Conversation.

Details, Community Conversation dates, and additional surveys are posted on our website: tcoa.org/about/.

Volunteer Spotlight

A headshot of Kelly Zarka

The Volunteer Spotlight for August is... Kelly Zarka - a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Counselor!

About Kelly:

"I have worked at Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties since 2011. In 2024, I transferred to the Health Coverage Eligibility unit.

As a Health Coverage Eligibility Counselor, I assist people with their Medicaid Applications, Marketplace enrollments, and recently became a certified SHIP counselor though TCOA. Adding the SHIP counseling to my other duties makes sense as it is another avenue to assist people with enrollment and understanding the programs they need.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking. I have been a runner and run a couple marathons and many half marathons, but in recent years we have decided to walk our races. I am currently in the process of walking a 10k or half marathon in all 50 states. We are still at the beginning of this journey but excited for all the places we’ll go."

Thank you, Kelly, for helping older adults in the Tri-County area better understand Medicare/Medicaid and access the healthcare they need!
