SEPTEMBER 2018 EDITION
Greetings!

August at Homes for the Brave began in sweltering fashion as our men's transitional house and staff offices went for 30 out of a stretch of 37 days without air conditioning as our HVAC system will need to be completely replaced. As reported in the CT Post, an amazing "rescue" operation was pulled off by the combined forces of the Bridgeport and Fairfield Fire Departments, led by Bridgeport Assistant Chief Richard D'Onofrio and Captain Armando Cora and Fairfield Assistant Chief George Gomola. The Firefighters retrieved 31 window units from the 5th floor of a neighboring building without operating elevators using a bucket truck and transported them to HFTB. Special thanks to HFTB Board Treasurer Jim Cannon and Angel Commercial RE President for facilitating this impressive endeavor.

We extend our gratitude to our existing friends at the Klein Family Foundation and new ones at Friends Fiduciary Corporation of Philadelphia, PA for their remarkable support. Excitement is building as sponsors and climbers are "stepping up" to drive the success of our  4th Annual Step Up for the Brave Stair Climb , which will be held on Saturday morning, September 15, 2018 at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. IHeartRadio, our media sponsor, will be broadcasting from the Arena and Board Member Eric Parker, morning anchor of WFSB-Channel 3, will be this year's MC. Please plan on joining us for a wonderful event.

Happenings at HFTB
As many of you know, we have spent much of July & August without A/C. With sweltering days upon us, the Bridgeport and Fairfield Fire Departments teamed up to help us retrieve and deliver 31 A/C window units from the 5th floor of a nearby building with no working elevator.

Thank you!
