An award ceremony was recently held for LeRoy Ashauer, a 96-year-old US Army veteran who served in Germany during the US military occupation of Germany after the war. He served for 2 years in Germany.  In this photo are, from left to right: Tina Flanagan, Post 664 Quartermaster; Brandon Pszanka, Post 664 Commander, LeRoy Ashauer, our 96 yrs old Post 664 member and Evan Christman, News Reporter for WTCH Radio Station. During the Chamber's Breakfast Club segment on August 15th, where Tina was a guest, the Radio Station donated a $400.00 check to Post 664 to purchase LeRoy's VFW Legacy Bronze Life Membership that was presented at a special ceremony at the Post building on August 20th. A Legacy membership enables VFW Life Members to leave a lasting impression on their great organization. LeRoy's name and a legacy contribution will be made to the Post 664 every year and forever.  What a great surprise that was! It pays to be a guest on our show!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2025 • 6-9 pm

The FWD Seagrave Museum is joining with the Lions Club (and are inviting the Chamber of Commerce and City of Clintonville) to host a "NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM" on Friday, October 31st from 6-9 pm.

Although we are in the early planning stages, we hope to have an open house at the museum with a haunted and spooky theme. Candy, treats, and spooky tours will be provided.

Future meetings will be forthcoming with those who are participating in organizing what hopes to become an annual event.

In addition, the museum is in the process of acquiring as many as four additional vehicles to the museum's current collection of 83 vehicles on display and an additional 29 currently in storage.

Recognizing that every individual grieves in a unique way, Unity offers a wide variety of grief support services to all in our communities who have experienced a death. Unity Receives $25,000 Grant from K.C. Stock Foundation to Expand Home-Based Palliative Care Services

Unity is honored to announce the award of a $25,000 grant from the K.C. Stock Foundation to support its Supportive Care Management (SCM) program, which provides compassionate, home-based palliative care to individuals in Northeast Wisconsin facing serious illness.

“We are deeply grateful to the K.C. Stock Foundation for recognizing the growing need for accessible palliative care,” says Unity Executive Director Alisa Gerke. “This generous grant ensures that more people throughout our region can receive the relief, dignity, and support they deserve during some of life’s most difficult moments.”

Unity’s Supportive Care Management program provides an extra layer of support and education for individuals and their family when living with a serious illness, delivering expert care wherever a patient calls home. The program focuses on symptom relief and quality of life through skilled nursing visits, 24/7 nurse consultation, emotional and spiritual support, and connection to critical resources. Recognizing some would otherwise lack access to this superior level of specialized care, Unity maintains its commitment to care for everyone who is eligible for services, regardless of their ability to pay.



In 2024, Unity served 424 patients through SCM, providing more than 5,100 care team visits. Data confirms that patients enrolled in the program are less likely to require emergency room visits or hospitalization. The program also helps reduce the emotional toll of illness by addressing social isolation and supporting informed decision-making for patients and their caregivers.

With renewed support from the K.C. Stock Foundation, Unity anticipates serving 594 patients in 2025 - helping individuals remain at home, avoid unnecessary hospital visits, and receive holistic care tailored to their unique medical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.

Unity Hospice Receives $20,000 from the Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer

De Pere, Wis. – For the tenth consecutive year, Unity Hospice has been chosen as a recipient of funds from the Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer. These contributions help Unity provide compassionate hospice care, palliative care, and grief support to individuals and families across Northeast Wisconsin.

The Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer, a motorcycle ride to benefit cancer patients and families throughout Northeastern Wisconsin, presented checks totaling $185,000 to eleven local cancer support organizations at Vandervest Harley-Davidson. Since its inception 21 years ago, Cruise for Cancer has donated $3 million to local cancer organizations.

“We at Unity are grateful to Jerry Parins, Vandervest Harley-Davidson, the Packerland Harley Owners Group and the Green Bay Police and Fire Departments, as well as all event participants, for raising money to support families with cancer. The $20,000 awarded to Unity from the 2025 Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer helps ensure patients and families who are underinsured or lack financial resources can receive the dignified, holistic care they deserve” says Unity Development Director Jenifer Allen.

Big Changes for HSAs in the One Big Beautiful Bill

Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) just became available to more people thanks to the new “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

What Changed

• You can now open and contribute to an HSA if you are in a Bronze or Catastrophic Marketplace plan.
• Telehealth visits will not disqualify your HSA, so you can keep using virtual care.

Why It Matters

HSAs are one of the smartest tools for managing health costs:

• Contributions reduce taxable income, lowering what you owe in taxes.
• The money rolls over year to year and can grow for future expenses, even into retirement.
• Bronze and Catastrophic plans often have lower premiums, and now you can pair them with an HSA for added savings.

What Did Not Pass

Some proposals did not make it into the law. For example, people on Medicare Part A still cannot contribute to an HSA, even if they are on another qualified plan.

The Takeaway

This change opens the door for more people to use HSAs. If you have a Bronze or Catastrophic plan, you can now save for health costs, lower your taxes, and keep telehealth as an option.
