The California Capital Airshow will roar into Rancho Cordova on September 9th - 10th at Mather Airport, attracting over 100,000 spectators to the City for a heart-pounding lineup of performances and entertainment for the whole family. 

This year's Airshow features mesmerizing aerobatic and precision flying performances by the dynamic Patriots Jet Team, US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet, US Air Force A-10 and P-38, F-15C Eagle, and Kent Pietsch Interstate Cadet, plus amazing jumping performances by the Patriot Parachute Team, thrilling exotic car experiences with Precision Exotics, and so much more!

Operation #InspireTheFuture Surprises and Inspires

The City wanted to give students at every Rancho Cordova school a chance to be inspired by the incredible aviation performances and STEM opportunities at the California Capital Airshow.  So, we arranged for California Army National Guard pilots to make a surprise Blackhawk helicopter l anding at Dave Roberts Community Park, and they, along with a California Air National Guard squadron, delivered FREE, exclusive tickets to the Airshow to 3,600 Rancho Cordova students and their parents!

Library Serves Over 100 Veterans Each Month

The Veterans Resource Station at the Rancho Cordova Library has served over 100 veterans each month for the past three months, a new high for the Library. Dedicated volunteers trained by CalVet help connect local veterans to their benefits and resources available to them.


Public Works for You

Your City Public Works team is busy improving our City with these new projects:

Capital Village Curb Painting Project
The City of Rancho Cordova will be repainting the red curbs in all alleys and aisles in the Capital Village neighborhood. The project will improve safety in the neighborhood. The project is scheduled to start on Monday, September  25th , weather permitting. Access to resident driveways will be restricted for roughly 24 hours during this work. If you live in this neighborhood, you will receive a mailer with more detailed information.

Rancho Cordova Elementary School Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvement Project
In August, the City completed the Rancho Cordova Elementary School Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvement Project. The project is supported by the City of Rancho Cordova's Community Enhancement Fund and creates safe routes for residents and students in the neighborhood to walk or bike to and from Rancho Cordova Elementary School and throughout the area.

Upcoming Tree Planting Events

NeighborWoods is an initiative that brings FREE trees to Rancho Cordova neighborhoods. On Saturday, October 21st, the City is  hosting a tree planting event at homes and at Federspiel Park in the Cordova Vineyards neighborhood. Then on Saturday, December 2nd, the City will be planting trees at Countryside Park.  More tree planting events are planned for the spring. 

In addition to neighborhood tree planting events, the City offers FREE trees to homeowners, businesses, churches, parks, and schools on an ongoing basis. 


Start Creating for The Fall Show

Accomplished and aspiring artists are invited to participate in the "The Fall Show," Cordova Community Council's largest art show of the year. The Fall Show will run from October 22nd, 2017 through January 2018 at Rancho Cordova City Hall. 



First Class Graduates from Intercoast College Rancho Cordova Campus

Vice Mayor Linda Budge was proud to speak to the first graduating class of InterCoast College's Rancho Cordova Campus at their commencement ceremony last month. The graduates are entering the workforce as alcohol and drug counselors, electricians, HVAC technicians, medical assistants, and pharmacy technicians. Congratulations, grads!


National Immunization Month

With the new school year back in session and fall right around the corner, public health experts are reminding parents how important it is for their children to be current on all necessary vaccinations. Vaccines for adults, such as the annual flu vaccine, are also recommended.

More businesses are coming to Sunridge Plaza!  Rancho Cordova Smiles Dentistry  is expected to open this month, and later in the year, Burgerim and 9Round Fitness will open at this growing neighborhood shopping center located at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Douglas Road. 


City Attorney Recognized as  Leading Lawyer 

The City of Rancho Cordova's City Attorney, Adam Lindgren, was named among the Sacramento region's "Top 25 Lawyers" in Sacramento Magazine, as well as one of the 2018 edition of "Best Lawyers in America" for his work in municipal  law. 

Discovery Kids Preschool Program Begins

The Cordova Recreation & Park District's Discovery Kids Preschool program begins September 5th. Sign up your kids for a classroom experience with hands-on activities at Rancho Cordova parks and facilities that encourage social and emotional development.
