September 22 is Celebrated around the World as Car Free Day |
Using cars less by harnessing alternative modes such as transit, carpooling, bicycles, walking and telecommuting helps reduce traffic, conserve energy, reduce harmful emissions and save money! While going car-free may not be an option for everyone, and nearly impossible in South Florida, it is a chance to reexamine the way we move around our community - and think about ways we can green our commute.

Less Driving, More Biking - Yes, Please! | |
Ravi Ramgulam, City Engineer, and staff liaison for the Sunrise Bike & Pedestrian Board at Sunrise Earth Day Festival. | A County-wide Effort to Expand Transportation Options |
The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) mission is to plan, prioritize, and fund delivery of diverse transportation options for our region. The Broward MPO develops the Route to 2050 which has an interactive map where you can learn about regional planned projects.
In addition, Broward voters approved a one-cent surtax for transportation named the Mobility Advancement Program (MAP) Broward. A goal of MAP Broward is to provide enhanced transit services. In response, Broward County Transit is developing the Premium Mobility Plan or PREMO to define a program of premium transit projects that meets the need of the county and achieves the objectives set forth by MAP Broward. Broward County Transit wants to hear your input on PREMO.
| Don't Forget about Bike Safety |
A bicycle is actually a non-motorized vehicle and just like driving a motorized vehicle, there are responsibilities that go along with it to ensure personal safety as well as the safety of others.
