As we enter and embrace the fall season, I would typically spend time using the expanse of this space to reflect on the joy that the summer solstice has hopefully brought us.
However, that conversation seems unbefitting in this moment. As I write this, millions of people in Puerto Rico are without power and fresh running water. Almost five years to the date of the devastation laid to the island due to Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Fiona has again plunged Puerto Rico into crisis.
Please take a moment out to read about and support their work, and by extension our fellow human beings who are in need. Whether it be Puerto Rico, Jackson, Mississippi or Ukraine, let us not be distracted from doing our part to make sure that every human being has their basic needs met, and their full humanity seen and valued.
