In 2022, an estimated 10,470 children (birth to 14 years) and 5,480 adolescents (aged 15-19 years) will be diagnosed with cancer. Our mission at Family House remains the same: to be a home away from home for families of children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses by providing care, compassion, and support to every family in need, always 100% free of charge.
This month, you can make your impact by setting up a recurring donation to support kids like Vera from Reno, Nevada. Vera has been staying at Family House with her mom, dad, and her two sisters since September 2020 after being diagnosed with neuroblastoma.

Meet Zaira!
Zaira is a 13-year-old girl from Stockton, California. She and her family have been staying at Family House since April 2022, when Zaira was diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous disease. While she receives treatment for her diagnosis at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, we’ve been lucky to spend a lot of time with such a talented young lady— from craft projects to music, Zaira spreads her joy around Family House in every way she can, and we love it.
Check out her latest song, “Maybe I’m Great,” made with Director of Family Services, Paul Goold.

Cabernet for Connoisseurs
Our community never ceases to amaze us with the many ways it shows up for our families. We spent our 26th annual flagship fundraiser at the beautiful Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, sipping incredible wines, eating a gourmet dinner, and enjoying the fantastic tunes of Mai Bloomfield, Steve Seskin, and Sinclair. Hundreds of dedicated supporters, partners, friends, vintners, and volunteers made this year another huge success, bringing in more than $1.3 million in support for our families.

As a 100% privately funded organization, we’re fortunate to be able to provide free activities to our families while they stay with us to receive treatment at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. This Halloween, help us make sure it’s a memorable one for our kids!

CancerBuddy is a new social support network for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. It’s a free, safe smartphone iOS app that helps people affected by cancer find resources, emotional support, patient education information, and a community of peers going through similar experiences. You can even join a group specifically for Family House families!
Currently, the app is only available on Apple devices but they are hoping to bring it to Android soon.

Family House continues to be open during the COVID-19 health crisis. Though we are operating with a significantly smaller staff and have suspended nearly all volunteer activities, we are committed to maintaining our mission of providing compassionate care and dignity to families in need. If you'd like to support us, please consider donating here.
