Inquiries Concluded

 

  • 6 September 2022– Mr Michael Stanley pleaded guilty to a charge issued by HRNSW Stewards pursuant to AHRR 193 (3) following the withdrawal of SOHO ALMASI from Race 6 at Menangle on Saturday 7th May 2022 after it was established that the product ‘Runners Relief’ was present on the horse’s legs at the time of a raceday stable inspection.

 

HRNSW Stewards imposed a fine of $2,000.

 

  • 15 September 2022 – Mrs Stacie Elliott pleaded guilty to three (3) charges issued by HRNSW Stewards following a report from the from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Ethacrynic Acid was detected in the post-race urine sample taken from ENEMY LINES following its win in race 3, the MATES 4 HARNESS PACE (1609 metres) conducted at Newcastle on Monday 28 February 2022;

 

The reserve portion and control solution were confirmed by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) in Victoria.

 

HRNSW Stewards imposed the following penalties:

 

Charge 1-     Pursuant to AHRR 190 (1), (2) & (4) – 12 months disqualification;


Charge 2-     Pursuant to AHRR 194 (as at 30 October 2020) - $2000 fine;


Charge 3-     Pursuant to AHRR 194 (as at 21 October 2016) – Stewards have not finalised the matter of penalty in relation to this offence at this time.

 

The subject horse was disqualified under the provisions of AHRR 195.

 

Mrs Elliott has appealed against the penalty imposed in relation to Charge 1.

 


Inquiries Commenced

 

  • 26 September 2022– Mr Nathan Turnbull – HRNSW Stewards commenced an Inquiry in relation to a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory (ARFL) that Salicylic Acid above the threshold of 6.5 micrograms per millilitre in plasma was been detected in the blood sample taken from HAPPY AS following its win in race 3, the APG 2022 BUYERS BENEFITS PACE (1720 metres) conducted at Dubbo on Friday 22 October 2021.

 

The ‘B’ sample was confirmed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

 

The Inquiry was adjourned upon application by Mr Turnbull’s legal representative for the purpose of obtaining an expert report which is due by 4pm on Monday 10 October 2022.

 

 

Appeal Decision

 

  • 9 September 2022– Mr Jamie Donovan appealed the decisions of HRNSW Stewards to suspend his licence for a period of 7 days and 14 days following breaches of AHRR 168(1)(a) when driving PARATROUPER in Race 6 at Menangle on Saturday 9 July 2022. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal the appeal was dismissed.


  • 21 September 2022– Mr Robert Gatt appealed the decision of the HRNSW Licensing Committee to refuse to grant him an ‘A’ Grade Trainer’s Licence. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal, the appeal was upheld and a conditional ‘B’ Grade Trainer’s licence was granted.


  • 23 September 2022– Mr Michael Hardy appealed the decision of the HRNSW Licensing Committee to refuse to grant him an ‘A’ Grade Trainer and Driver’s Licence. By decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal, the appeal was upheld and the licences were granted.


  • 30 September 2022– Ms Amanda Turnbull appealed the decision of HRNSW Stewards to disqualify her for a period of 3 months after she pleaded guilty to a charge issued pursuant to AHRR 190(1), (2) & (4) following a report from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory that triamcinolone acetonide had been detected in the pre-race blood sample taken from WHOS MY MOTHER NZ prior to it running in race 3, the CORDINA FOOD CO NSW OAKS HEAT 1 (2400 metres) conducted at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday 20 February 2021. Be decision of the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal, the appeal was upheld and a fine of $7,500 imposed.



Integrity Information


  • During the month of September 2022, HRNSW Integrity department obtained 853 Race day samples.

 

As per normal HRNSW procedure all samples have been submitted for analysis.
