September Cancer Awareness Month

During the month of September, there are several campaigns aimed at raising awareness about different types of cancer, promoting early detection and prevention methods, and providing support for those affected by cancer. We Stand Together, Inc. is dedicated to providing information to help build awareness to some of these various types of cancer.

Blood Cancer

When cancer occurs in the blood, it's usually the result of an abnormal and excessive reproduction of white blood cells. About 10% of cancers diagnosed are Blood cancers. Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma are all types of blood cancer. An estimated 184,720 new cases of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma will be diagnosed in the U.S. in 2023.

Ovarian Cancer

At this late stage, ovarian cancer is more difficult to treat and can be deadly. It is estimated that in 2023, approximately 19,710 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Community Outreach Highlight

The We Stand Together Community Health Fair & Table Talk took place over the summer at the Little Haiti Cultural Center in Miami, FL. Through the support of Baptist Health and Commissioner Christine King, of District 5, we were able to serve and educate our Haitian community. We want to thank all of our vendors, sponsors, panelists, and volunteers who supported us and helped make the event a success. We couldn't have done it without you!
