COBALT Submissions Now Open!
The Toronto Blues Society and Paul Reddick are happy to collaborate once again for the seventh annual Cobalt Prize Contemporary Blues Composition Award. The submissions will be open this Friday, September 11th at 10:00am EST! The intention behind the COBALT Prize is to promote blues music through exploration of its form. The winner will be announced during one of the upcoming Maple Blues Awards live stream sessions in the month of February and a cash prize of $500 will be awarded.

Maple Blues Awards Are Going Online in 2021

Toronto Blues Society's annual national awards show Maple Blues Awards is going virtual on its next edition which will take place in February 1, 2021. The Board of TBS has been faced with the difficult decision considering the ongoing pandemic. The public voting will still take place during the month of November 2020 and the winners will be announced during the online awards show in February.
Musicians! Promote Your New Albums!
Please make sure to mail and promote your new albums to the MBA Nominating Panel until the end of September. While our Panel is consisted of 62 members who are required to be familiar with Canadian blues artist activity and CD releases, artists are encouraged to service new releases to increase their national profile. The list of the Panel members can be found on our website with a link to their organizations. Please note, albums should be released during the eligibility period: September 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.

Registration Now Open for CIMA & Indie Week's Online Live Mentorship Program
CIMA and Indie Week have partnered to present an online live mentorship program in October which will run for four weeks over a total of 8 sessions with a focus on becoming “Export and Business Ready”. The opportunity is available to 40 CIMA members (20 artist-entrepreneurs and 20 companies) as well as 20 non-CIMA members (10 artist-entrepreneurs and 10 companies). External Emergency Funding Initiatives Announced To Date:

  • CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit) - extended for an additional four weeks to a maximum of 28 weeks. The Government will be transitioning to a simplified Employment Insurance (EI) program, effective September 27 to provide income support to those who remain unable to work and are eligible.

  • SOCAN's new program Encore! is paying musicians for live online concerts on Facebook and Instagram.
