Update and Prayer request from Stan and Bessie Kruis
Last month we asked you to pray for Bessie’s teaching of “The Steward Leader,” an ATS extension class in a town about 90 minutes drive away. This was four sessions, each 3-4 hours, on Tuesday evenings. It went very well – a big answer to prayer. I (Stan) drove her there each time, and it was a joy for me to watch her teach animatedly with joy, wisdom, and skill! About 30 students completed the class. Pray for more such teaching opportunities for her.
The new school year at ATS started this week, and I had a full day of teaching yesterday, as both my classes are on Thursdays. (Most of our classes are in 3-hour blocks, once a week). I am teaching Church Planting (with a co-teacher) and World Missions. Please pray for my weekly preparation, and for wisdom, energy, skill, and enthusiasm in my teaching.
This month worship services began for a new church plant in Bessie’s home town, Tanauan, Batangas. This is something we have been praying about for a long time, and we’re so thankful! The Calamba CRC (about 30 minutes drive away) is spearheading this. We have been driving to Tanauan (about 90 minutes from our place in Manila) every Sunday to attend and bring family members. About 30-35 adults and young people, plus children, have been attending – a great start! Please keep this church plant and its evangelistic work in your prayers.
This morning Bessie and I, along with Marian Bernardino (a CRCP leader) completed Global Coffee Break (GBC) training to become trainers of small group leaders. Pray that the Memorandum of Agreement of GCB with CRCP will be finalized soon so we can move forward with training many leaders and using GCB Bible study materials.
Update and prayer requests from Lisa Liou
Thank you for coming along side our ministry on campuses across the West. This fall, students and faculty return for another year and the ministry continues. Would you pray for the staff to meet them at important moments to facilitate God’s work? Pray for new faith, new connections and new commitments to God’s work on our campuses. Pray for a new Harvey Mudd faculty who attended our summer conference in Santa Barbara. He just graduated from Cal tech. We look forward to ongoing partnership with you.
P.S. Unexpectedly and clearly, God closed the door for Jeff at Claremont and opened a door for him at InterVarsity, continuing to be sponsored by the CRC in his ordination through CrossPoint. We didn’t plan this but God has confirmed it. He’d be happy to share more with you all. He’ll be our National Director of Theological Formation – forming and training all our staff! He’s in Madison today with his new team.
