Living Every Second: Spotlight on APRx Sr. VP of Sales, Ryan Gevara

Ryan’s energy, dedication, and genuine passion for people are felt wherever he goes. As Sr. VP of Sales, he not only leads and supports our Sales and Pharmacy Engagement teams but also spends nearly half the year traveling coast to coast to connect directly with members. For him, the road is where relationships are built, trust is strengthened, and the APRx mission comes to life.

Beyond his professional role, Ryan brings joy and purpose into everything he does. Whether he’s teaching about America’s spirit—bourbon—or spending time with family and friends, he approaches each day with gratitude and intention. His story is one of resilience, mentorship, and a deep belief that every moment truly matters.

What’s your role at American Pharmacies?

“I am the Senior Vice President of Sales, leading and supporting our Director of Sales and Director of Pharmacy Engagement, along with their teams who serve our customer base. I spend about 20 weeks a year traveling coast to coast to visit our customers—a part of my job I truly enjoy.”

If you ever wrote an autobiography, what would the title be?

"Every Second Counts."

What’s a quote or motto you live by?

“I actually live by two mottos: ‘Live every day to the fullest’ and ‘Every Second Counts.’ Several experiences in my life have shown me that we are never guaranteed tomorrow. We must be grateful simply for the opportunity to wake up and start a new day. ‘Every Second Counts’ also comes from the show The Bear and holds special meaning for me, as it represents a close friend who fought cancer and won. Never take life for granted!”

Do you have any pets?

“Daisy May is a 7-year-old pointer/Lab rescue and the smartest, most loving, and funniest dog I’ve ever had. She was originally supposed to be my daughter’s dog, but after a few months, she became mine. Daisy loves sitting on her ‘perch’ at the edge of the pool, where she can watch over the fence and bark at anyone walking by. Her bark is definitely bigger than her bite—but don’t tell her that!”

Who has inspired or mentored you in your life or career?

“Professional golfer Ben Hogan has always been a major inspiration to me because of his tenacity and refusal to give up in the face of adversity. He didn’t rely on natural talent; he worked tirelessly every day to be the best. Even after a car accident that left him barely able to walk, he came back to win six major championships. His words, ‘As you walk down the fairway of life, you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round,’ have always stuck with me.”

“As far as mentors go, I would easily say our President, Laird Leavoy. I first went to work for Laird in October 1999 at Amerisource, and over the years, I’ve learned so much from him about business, ethics, leadership, and life. Much of what he has taught me comes from his father, the late Col. Les Leavoy, a three-war fighter pilot, whom I had the honor of knowing. My leadership style reflects what I’ve learned from Laird, and I strive to pass those lessons on to the teams I lead.”

Ryan’s story is a reminder that leadership is about more than titles—it’s about living with intention, sharing knowledge, and making every second count. His journey continues to inspire both colleagues and members, and his vision strengthens the connections that keep APRx moving forward.
