SEPTEMBER NEWS

β€Š

Greetings T&C Families and Friends,

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and found some way to stay cool.

Fall is finally coming although, it still doesn’t feel very fall like.

It is awesome having all the kids and families back on campus with games underway.

I want to thank everyone that helped coordinate and put on the second annual Labor Day Family Fun Day and Fun Run. It was great to see many of you enjoying the event.

This year has been a challenging summer for growing grass all over central Texas and T&C was no exception. Our maintenance staff has done an amazing job of keeping most of our fields in good playable condition considering the drought and extreme heat.

We are super excited to announce the opening of our first artificial turf surface field. Although we ran into a couple supply chain issues, the new and improved Field 10 (Mike Hammer Field) was game ready for week two of the baseball season. We are looking forward to this new addition for our youngest baseball and softball players.

At T&C, we want to help every kid play. So each year, we hold a fundraiser event with the proceeds going to reduce the costs to play sports, especially for low-income families. T&C will be hosting our annual β€œHelp Every Kid Play” Charity Bowling Tournament at Highland Lanes this year on October 22nd so I hope to get to see many of you at this event.

(More info. on this event below.)

We have several special events in the planning stage for this fall. So remember to check the website often, follow us on social media, and read your newsletters for the latest information regarding registration, events, and all that is going on at T&C over the next year.

I want to thank all of you for being a part of Town and Country and making it such a wonderful place for all our children to learn and play.

Have a great fall season and I look forward to seeing you on campus over the next few months.

Best regards,

Doug Chappell

T&C FUNDRAISER

T&C SPORTS HELP EVERY KID PLAY CHARITY BOWLING TOURNAMENT

Join us: Sunday, October 22nd, from 1pm - 4pm, T&C will host our first ever "Help Every Kid Play" Bowling Tournament at Highland Lanes.

  • The proceeds go directly to support low income kids to play sports at T&C.

  • Did you know that only 30% of low income families children play organized sports, compared with 70% of the kids from more affluent families? This is our opportunity to help those kids in need.
  • T&C will have the whole bowling center to ourselves, all 40 lanes, and each lane will have a team of four bowlers competing for fun against the others. You can sign up as a team, or as an individual and we'll put you on a team. It's open to all kids and adults, whether you're an experienced bowler or a beginner.

  • We'll have prizes, snacks and drinks, and guaranteed fun for all!

  • We need financial sponsors as well as bowlers to make this successful. If you or your company can help as a sponsor, we'll be truly grateful. As T&C is a 501c3 non-profit, your donations qualify for tax deductions.

FIELD & FACILITIES

β€Š

Campus Update & Reminder

β€Š

Is there anything we can do about the increased presence of ants on the fields?

β€Š

Yes, we are doing everything we can to address the number of ants on our fields. Limiting the exposure of ants and maintaining our fields for the safety of our community is paramount.

Why are there so many ants around lately?

β€Š

The extended hot and dry weather period of a 100 days combined with our watering of T&C fields attracted ants to our fields. The recent 3 inches of rain at our facility has caused ants to further surface and migrate.

What is T&C doing about the ants?

β€Š

T&C has broadcast ant poison across all the playing fields. We continue to spot treat mounds with an additional poison. We plan another field-wide broadcast and are consulting with suppliers/manufacturers on the most effective timing.

ο»ΏPlease be careful as we continue to work on the ant problem.

Water/ Hydration Reminder

Please bring a refillable water bottle with your First and Last name marked on it so you can stay hydrated and recover it if lost.

We have 3 water fountains you may use to refill your water bottles at:

  • ο»Ώone located by our office (near field 10),
  • one located by soccer concessions (near field 20),
  • one located by baseball concessions (near field 13.)

The Morris Rd. side of our campus has limited vending machines but doesn't have a water fountain so please be mindful when visiting us and pack accordingly!

Field Status Reminder
