This might be our favorite time of year at the Canyon Center when summer transitions into a cooler fall. We hope you’ll join us in looking for the little signs of autumn like the frequency of Sulfur Butterflies, purple blooming Iron Weed and the clearing night skies as just a few of the reminders.
The recent Super Moon had many of us looking up towards outer space. It was beautiful and the nearby, celestial addition of Saturn was a special treat! Both will be around for a while so remember to get out the binoculars and take a look. Saturn will appear tiny, but when you look closely, you’ll see its oval shape due to the ring. Of course, with a telescope it’s even better.
There’s so much happening outside and its always our goal to bring it to your attention. For example, see below and don’t miss the opportunity to learn about VULTURES on Saturday morning. Possibly one of the coolest types of bird in the world, we hope you’ll come out to see how to tell a Black Vulture from a Turkey Vulture, hear how they prevent the spread of disease, and better understand how they can soar for such great distances. There’s so much to learn and experience!
Please keep in touch with all of our programs, festivals, concerts, shop sales, and rental opportunities. We appreciate your interest in the Canyon Center and always invite you to support us through your large or small donations!
