Manual Channel Maintenance

The objective and goal for this project is to manually remove leaf litter, vegetation, woody growth, and woody deadfall that may impede the flow of water within the given channel, which is not accessible by mechanical equipment in various locations throughout Sussex County, Delaware.

Poster Contest
SCD is now accepting entries for the annual conservation poster contest from Sussex County public, charter, private or homeschooled students in grades K-12.

Posters will be judged on the 2021 theme, “Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities."

FREE Turfgrass & Stormwater Workshops
The workshops are designed to provide technical resources to aid property owners, homeowner associations and property maintenance companies.

“Educating property owners inspires them to be better stewards of their land and shows them how their actions impact the neighborhood and watershed,” says John Emerson. 

“We encourage communities and property owners to become informed so they can identify problems early before they become costly to repair,” says Jessica Watson.

Delaware Producers Encouraged to Apply for Assistance to Improve Natural Resources

Financial and technical assistance are available through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) program.

The first application cutoff deadline for fiscal year (FY) 2022 funding is October 15, 2021. Read more.
USDA to Invest $50 Million in New Cooperative Agreements for Racial Justice and Equity  

The Racial Justice and Equity Conservation Cooperative Agreements are available to entities and individuals for two-year projects that expand the delivery of conservation assistance to farmers who are beginning, limited resource, socially disadvantaged, and veteran farmers. Read more.
