Inaugural Event Success: "Plant Kindness"

Following the success of our "Plant Kindness" launch party on April 25th at The Sheraton Palo Alto, Project HumaneKind is excited to share a brief recap. We are grateful to all who joined us for this special event. We proudly honored:

  • Business Partner: Sheraton Palo Alto
  • Community Partner: Palo Alto City Library and Youth Community Service
  • Earth Friend: Acterra and SolPods
  • Voice for Animals: Clorofil
  • Life Saver: Pink Paws for the Cause, Wendy Eilers, and Michele Hollar

Mayor Greer Stone presented the awards, and Verlyn Klinkenborg’s keynote, "The Earth is a Shelter," inspired us all. The evening also featured a silent auction with amazing prizes, including stays at the Westin Palo Alto and Intercontinental The Clement Monterey. Special thanks to our sponsors—SolPods, Clorofil, Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, Humane Education Network, Pets in Need, and **The Sheraton Palo Alto**—for making this event possible!

Autumn Heat: Keep Your Pets Cool and Safe

As fall approaches, the days may start to cool, but September can still bring a lingering heat. Even when temperatures seem milder, the pavement can remain dangerously hot for your pets. A simple test: if it’s too warm for your hand on the pavement, it’s too warm for your dog’s paws. Protect your furry friends by avoiding walks during peak heat, and always ensure they have access to shade and plenty of water when outdoors. Let’s keep our pets safe and comfortable as we transition into the cooler months!

Equine Training with San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office

Project HumaneKind board member Jennifer Ott Cameron is working closely with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office to train their Mounted Search and Rescue volunteers. Jennifer’s expertise in equine behavior and best-practice desensitization methods is vital for preparing service horses for rescue operations.
