Trivia Time: Horsin' Around

What was the name of the miniature horse in the popular sitcom "Parks and Rec"?
Patches
BoJack
Li'l Sebastian
Boone

Answer Below

Small horse grazing in a field at Plains Conservation Center

The miniature horse featured on the show "Parks and Rec" was the iconic Li'l Sebastian. Aurora currently has its own miniature horse named Boone at the Plains Conservation Center, 21901 E. Hampden Ave.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Come meet Boone and his friends at our Prairie Homestead Harvest program from 9 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.

You’ll have a wheelbarrow of fun while learning about raising farm animals and gardening in the 1800s and even get a chance to get close to these lovable barnyard animals before we bid them a fond farewell until next year. The program is only $5 to attend and is welcome to all ages.

Register today at aurorapros.org/PCCPrograms.

Community Corner:

Aurora Is For The Dogs

Check out this sweet girl taking a break from her play at Grandview Dog Park, 17500 E. Quincy Ave.

Local patron, Brea C. had this to say about the local dog park:

I love this dog park. Lots of water bowls to spread around, lots of space for your dog to run but you can still see them and some shady spots on hot days.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Help your canine become a model citizen with our Beginning Dog Training classes. This program is a great way to teach your dog the basic commands. Most importantly you will learn how to better communicate with your pup, thus strengthening your relationship with your furry friend.

When: Wednesdays, Oct. 9 to Nov. 6, 6 to 7 p.m.

Where: Beck Recreation Center, 800 Telluride St.

How: The program is $170 ($135.83 Residents). Learn more and sign up at aurorapros.org/GeneralRec

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. Looking for a furry friend? Regardless of if you’re more of a cat person vs. a dog person, you can find a lovable companion at Aurora Animal Shelter.

Aurora's Cultivating A Brighter Tomorrow With Native Grasses!

Native grasses are taking root at parks across Aurora! Over 18 acres of traditional turf have been converted to native grasses or Bermuda grass this year. Not only does this translate to more than 11 million gallons of water saved, but is also supporting healthy biodiversity in our environment and helping prevent the introduction and spread of noxious weeds.
