Greetings!
We are closing in on the end of summer and the CSL Legislative Committee can feel the pressure building for the November elections and the 2020 Legislative Session. It is more important than ever for Colorado citizens to stay current with issues and remain in contact with the legislators serving their district. We sincerely hope that Colorado Senior Lobby helps you stay in touch with issues impacting older adults. If we can be of assistance on any issues, call or email the Lobby.

Cheers, Bob

Death and Taxes was a Success!
Colorado Senior Lobby’s August 12th event: “Death and Taxes – Understanding at Least One of Them,” was a great success (judging by the nearly 100 people in attendance and their many positive comments after the event).

Three constitutional amendments (each requiring a vote of the people) were the primary topics of discussion: the Gallagher Amendment (adopted in 1982 and which directly impacts property taxes), the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) Amendment (adopted in 1992 and which relates to restrictions on state taxing, spending, and budgeting), and the Senior Property Tax Exemption (adopted in 2000) - READ MORE

Below is a link to the Panel Discussion:
"Don’t change our tax structure any further" vs. "yes, it’s time for change"

Panelists included: Frank McNulty - former Speaker of the House, KC Becker - current Speaker of the House, Michael Fields - TABOR Advocate, Tyler Jaeckel - Bell Policy Center and Panel Moderator Anna Staver of the Denver Post.
Thank you to MetMedia for recording the presentations at Death and Taxes.
