Pedestal Take Over Photo Project
Turners Falls, MA
|
|
The Pedestal Take Over Project at Spinner Park in Turners Falls features 40 photographs of local women holding tools of their trade or other personal symbols while posing on an empty pedestal at the park. The original Spinner Statue, installed in 1985 in honor of the women who worked in the mills, is temporarily removed from the pedestal while the park is being reconstructed. The photo project was made by Nina Rossi of Nina's Nook, with support from RiverCulture, and is installed on construction fencing around the park. It will remain until the work is completed in October.

Colored Pencil Class with Carolyn Todd
Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, MA
|

Colored pencil drawing has provided color opportunities to illustrators, designers, and students of multiple art disciplines for years. It continues to rise in popularity and it has become a fine art medium due to the manufacturing improvements in lightfastness of the medium, the ease of use, and transporting the materials. It can be drawn similar to a graphite pencil but colored pencils have many additional properties including color layering, blending, burnishing, juxtaposition, and texturizing.
The Colored Pencil Zoom class will meet for five classes beginning on September 24 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm on Thursdays. Classes usually fill quickly; the class is limited to 10 students. Supply list will be available before the first class through the (Adult Learning in the Fitchburg Area) office.
Fall Registration and class information is available online.
