Lunch is Good!
We've had some great feedback
(no pun intended)
by our students about the new school lunch food.
Everyone is eating well and enjoying their lunch breaks. Listen to this video clip to hear what a couple of our students had to say about it on the first day of school.

Getting to Know Our Kindergarten
Teachers

Nicole Sanchez
This will be my ninth year at NVCA. I have been in early childhood for over ten years and also have worked in special ed. programs.
I love being able to share the love of Jesus and watch the kids then go and share the Love of Jesus! I also enjoy watching them grow from the beginning of the year to end. They are so curious and eager to learn, and they soak everything up like a sponge. It’s so awesome being able to be a part of watching that.
Kindergarteners are at such a fun and special age! They still love hugs but also are ready to take off with learning.
We took the first few weeks getting to know one another and building our classroom community, while also learning our routines. We have been talking about how God has made us and our families special and different. We have begun our math curriculum with classifying and sorting with lots of fun hands-on projects.
My goal for the school year is for the kiddos to know God loves them, show God’s love to others, and have a love for learning. One of my favorite scriptures that reminds me of the little kiddos in my class is Jeremiah 29:11, “...For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future....”
How awesome is it that God already knows the plan and has amazing plans for these kids!

Megan Kennedy
This is my first year working at NVCA. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, and I have been working with young children inside and outside of the classroom for several years. Prior to teaching at NVCA, I was a habilitation provider for Arizona Autism United.
I love being able to share Jesus with the littles. It is incredible to see the thought and exploration that goes into learning about the Lord at such a young age. It is amazing to see the growth over the course of a year in kindergarten.
We are currently working on position words in math, talking about how God created each of us to be special, and building classroom community. My goal for this school year is for the children to know that God loves them and how to show that love to others and to develop a joy for learning.
My favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6,“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will set your paths straight.”

NVCA Online Program
North Valley Christian Academy launched several online courses this fall with at least one course for each high school grade level. NVCA faculty developed these courses and NVCA faculty teaches them. Each course meets the state standards and includes a Christian worldview.
Currently, each high school student takes at least one online course. The course could be completely online, or a hybrid course. A hybrid course is a course where the student completes the assignments online but attends a regular classroom with the teacher in the room overseeing the class. This process is beneficial for science labs, class discussions, or answering individual questions.
|
|
A strategic plan is in place to offer several new courses each year with a complete online high school program in place by 2024. This option will enable students to complete their high school experience online or as a combination of online courses with grounds courses.

Prepared to Win!
With a new school year comes the excitement of the added High School and Middle School Soccer program. After two summer camps and a quick start to the season, the teams have been training and working toward their first games.
The first week of September will be an exciting time for NVCA. Both the High School and the Middle School soccer teams will kick off their season against quality opponents. Coach Stevens is excited about the many firsts that will come with this new program and with the addition of soccer to NVCA. "There are quite a few students who you are going to want to watch out for on the pitch! We have some tremendously talented athletes ready to give it their all this season," Coach Stevens said.
