This month, PSHH College Club graduate Bryan started school at Notre Dame! Bryan was chosen
from a group of 600 first year students to participate in the AnBryce Scholarship Program. This
program  is only offered to eight students each year and provides academic guidance, travel
opportunities,  and robust scholarships to ensure success for first generation college students.
We are so proud of all Bryan has accomplished!

You don't get the privilege of celebrating a major milestone anniversary without doing something right and our dear colleagues at NHS of Los Angeles County have been doing exactly that, for 35 wonderful years!

I had the immense pleasure of joining them last week as they rightfully, but very humbly, accepted best wishes, heartwarming thanks and accolades from titans of industry, civic partners and NHS clients and residents alike.

Festooned with flowers and balloons, the iconic backlot at Paramount Studios was the perfect setting for a celebration in honor of this magnificent housing and community engagement organization led by the legendary Lori Gay.  Like the many award-winning television shows and movies filmed there, Lori is worthy of an Emmy or Oscar herself!

The night belonged to NHS and to Lori but there was no doubt in my mind that despite dancing and celebrating well into the early hours, the very next day, they would have eschewed the tuxedos and gowns and rolled their sleeves back up in passionate service to the LA neighborhoods so relying on their efforts.

We are thrilled to consider ourselves a partner of NHS and look forward to many more peer to peer learning opportunities with them.

Fifty Years of Creating Opportunities

Fifty Years of Building Neighborhoods
Los Adobes de Maria II
Celebrating 15 years

Primarily housing farmworker families, Los Adobes de Maria II is home to one of PSHH's 10 learning centers, where students of all ages can strengthen their language & math skills, receive afterschool tutoring, attend vocational training workshops, and get help applying to college.

This learning center served as a springboard for College Club member Esgar, who went on to graduate from Cal Poly SLO with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Esgar now works for a major tech company
in  the  Bay Area!

Nipomo III
Celebrating 24 & 25 years

This subdivision of 97 self-help homes, completed in two phases between 1994 and 1995, gave a rare opportunity to very low income families. Through PSHH's "sweat equity" program, a group of families worked together to build each other's homes - and their own
community - in Nipomo.

Empowered by the gift of a safe, stable place to provide for their families, these owner-builders have gone on to build a more prosperous future for their loved ones and a lasting legacy for
new generations.
