September News for our District Partners

We hope the new school year is off to a terrific start in your district, and your students are all looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

As we enter our third year, Texas College Bridge is more excited than ever to help you get more of your students college ready, especially those who may struggle with traditional SAT/ACT testing, and we are committed to providing you with the resources you need to get the most out of our free program.

90% of Texas Community Colleges Participate

This past year, close to 24,000 students earned their English TSI exemption and right at 35,000 students earned their math TSI exemption through Texas College Bridge.   Those numbers represent a significant increase over the previous year, which would not be possible without the steadfast dedication of our participating districts, staff and teacher facilitators. On behalf of our team, and thousands of students, thank you!

Another big reason for our excitement this year is the news that Texas College Bridge is now accepted by more than 90% of the state’s community colleges, as an indicator of college readiness. In total, more than 86 Texas colleges and universities, including new partners in the metro areas of Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi, participate in the program – opening even more opportunities for students completing TCB courses!

Resources and Support for District Partners

To support our district partners with program implementation, utilize the District Checklist for a step-by-step guide for a successful launch.

Texas College Bridge has transitioned our training program to a series of pre-recorded, on-demand video tutorials. The short tutorial segments are less than 10 minutes each, to make training on the program as easy and convenient as possible for you and your staff.

The five videos now available start with an Intro to Texas College Bridge, and progress through Steps to Begin and Preparing for Implementation, to How to Report Completion for PEIMS and TCLAS Implementation Guidance.

The video tutorial series can also be found on the new Resources page on the Texas College Bridge website. Providing one consolidated location for all the key resources for our partners, as well as for students, the Resources page also includes a variety of downloadable guides and checklists plus links to more resources in our help center.

Upcoming PLC Sessions

To build on the learnings covered in the video tutorials, we are continuing to host PLC sessions for district coordinators and teachers over the coming months. These sessions do not cover program basics (these are covered in the video tutorials) but provide an opportunity to ask questions and share best practices for TCB implementation with districts across the state. If you are unable to attend, you can access the recording HERE
