The #Youth4Climate: #DrivingAmbition event in Milan September 28-30, 2021 will be organized around 4 major themes to guide the work of the young delegates, who will come up with recommendations for climate action on a variety of topics within these thematic areas that will feed into Pre-COP26 and COP26.

Project Green Schools is inviting you to engage your school in meaningful climate education and action by implementing “Race for the Planet” in your school or community and submitting your event with Climate Week NYC. Climate Week NYC is the week of September 20, 2021.

Participants compete in energy and environmental games and challenges focusing on energy, water, waste, and sustainability, and have the option to raise funds to support a unique project goal to Green Up Your School/Community.

Hosting kits with instructions, challenge materials, videos for opening/closing ceremonies, marketing & fundraising materials, and medals to award will be made available to registered participants.

Cory Shin, a former Project Green Schools National Co-President, hails from the Metro-Atlanta area and is a student at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Currently, he is studying International Studies and Business as a part of the dual-degree Huntsman Program between the Wharton School and the College of Arts & Sciences. Cory is a visionary leader and activist working to tackle sustainability and social impact within the business world.

School Building Science Fridays with CHPS
Join our partner Collaborative for High Performance Schools on the 2nd Friday of each month from September to June to learn how the science behind school buildings supports student, educator, and staff health, safety, and success. Each webinar is 45 minutes long, with 30 minutes of expert presentations followed by 15 minutes of participant Q&A.

2021 Green Difference Award Winner Spotlight

Department of Energy Launches Efficient and Healthy Schools Campaign
U.S. Department of Energy, with support from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Education, has launched an Efficient and Healthy Schools campaign to engage K-12 schools to improve energy performance and indoor air quality in school buildings. The campaign aims to help schools identify practical HVAC solutions and upgrades to improve energy efficiency while promoting healthier spaces for teaching and learning. Joining the campaign is easy and free. Call for Student Designed Posters for International Compost Awareness Week
The International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) Committee invites YOU to get involved in ICAW 2022. Students in 9th grade (age 14) or older from anywhere in the world, interested in participating can submit a design for the annual ICAW Poster Contest. The winning poster will be used to promote International Compost Awareness Week 2022 which will be held May 1 -7, 2022.

For students in grades 4-8 (age 10-13) you can enter into the ICAW video contest.
