SJNA Board Elections are Monday
This Monday, the neighborhood will vote for our neighborhood association board. The board currently has 11 full-time members, each elected for a 1-year term. Anyone that lives or works in St. Johns may run for a board position. In order to vote, you must have attended either the August or September general SJNA meeting, and must be present at the SJNA meeting, Monday. Officer roles will be assigned by the board at the monthly board meeting, directly following the general meeting.
Traffic Safety in St. Johns
At our last general meeting, neighbors shared concerns about increased traffic, and
pedestrian safety in St. Johns. Real change requires real community action. Share your concerns with the Portland Bureau of Transportation. Leave PBOT a message at
503-823-SAFE (7233). The mailbox is checked regularly, though messages may not receive a direct response. To increase your impact, encourage your neighbors to call and report their traffic concerns as well. Together, we can ensure that as our community grows, it grows safely!
TriMet - Bus stop relocation
TriMet will implement updates to several bus stations on Lombard between Richmond and St. Louis. Their goals are to ensure a shelter at every bus stop, and direct curb-side access for buses at all stops in order to properly accommodate the needs of all passengers. Overall, their adjustments will add additional curb-side parking spots in downtown St. Johns.
Emergency Response Classes
In the event of a major earthquake or flood, our community will very likely be cut off from the rest of the city by rising water, fallen bridges, and debris. It is imperative that we as a community come together and prepare for such situations. To get involved, please review these
PCC emergency response classes, and sign up to attend ongoing
St. Johns
NET (Neighborhood Emergency Team) Meetings
