Jack Clarke first started with Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference via his on-campus Hands4Hope Club last year as a freshman, so he's only been with the organization for about a year, but he has already done a lot! Not only did he participate in his club, he also was elected Treasurer for the 2025-26 year. Plus, he has taken on leadership roles in after-school Hands4Hope Committees. Jack says he has gained skills in leading and managing a team, as well as public speaking. Read on to get to know this young leader!

The biggest event of the Hands4Hope year is almost here! If you're reading this message, we know you care about Hands4Hope . . . so we hope you'll help us with the last opportunity to share this event before ticket sales close one week from today on September 7! Here are some quick and easy things you can do:

  • Get your tickets before September 7. Check out our group rate package - only $400 for a group of 6 to enjoy gourmet dinner, refreshments, dancing with a live band, access to exclusive live auction and raffles, and a fun adults-only night out!
  • Share the event on Facebook
  • Rescue our Friends: Read the hilarious and heartfelt stories from the participants in our "Rescue from the Mermaid's Spell" campaign, and help rescue those who inspire you the most. All donations are doubled!
  • Get ready to bid! Our online silent auction opens September 8, and anyone can participate from anywhere!

Now is the time of year when the 11 on-campus Hands4Hope Clubs on 10 middle and high school campuses from El Dorado Hills to Placerville start filling up. Be sure to attend an info meeting to kick off the year, and get your application in. And then get ready for an inspiring year-long service-learning experience planned and facilitated by elected and trained youth leaders, and guided by a Hands4Hope Staff Mentor!

For the 12th year in a row, the Hands4Hope School Supply Drive Committee has helped hundreds of students receive a new backpack stuffed with supplies they need to start the school year prepared and ready. We congratulate the participants and leaders of this year's committee on successfully distributing more than 650 backpacks and supplies—and counting—through the School Supply Distribution Day and continuing efforts through partner schools and agencies. So many students are getting what they need thanks to this group of young people! Read on to get all the details, plus see a video made by Hands4Hope youth!

We are delighted to welcome Adult Volunteer Tracy Messineo as the newest Board Director for Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference! Tracy has already made a mark with her role as an Adult Mentor in Empty Bowls and School Supply Drive Committees, and now with her position on the Hands4Hope Board of Directors, she will also help steer the organization as a whole with an eye for strategy, metrics, and sustainability.

Youth (grades 6-12) and adult volunteers are invited to help bring warmth and kindness to local families this holiday season. Committee participants will plan and host Hands4Hope’s 16th Annual Winter Boutique, where families in need can “shop” for donated clothing and cozy blankets at no cost. Leadership opportunities are available for youth in grades 8-12. Meetings start Sept. 24 and this short term-committee runs through mid-December. Apply before the September 5, 2025 deadline!

Congratulations to the Youth Board Executive Committee and the Hands4Hope Staff Education Team on their hard work preparing for and leading the High School and Middle School Leadership Camps! Thank you to all the elected leaders who took time out of their summer vacation to attend. Both camps offered a fresh and exciting way to educate both new and returning leaders in a wide variety of workshops, teambuilds, and icebreakers. Leaders are now armed with the essential skills needed to run a club, command a room, and introduce others to Hands4Hope. Read on to see the full summary article and a video!

The 2024-25 Hands4Hope Youth Board, a group of youth leaders from across all on-campus Hands4Hope Clubs and Committees, voted to create a Hands4Hope scholarship for alumni to use toward funding college and career/technical education tuition. The Youth Board worked hard on projects throughout the year to provide funding for their scholarship. Read on to learn how they were able to award four $1,000 scholarships to alumni.
