As Fall arrives with warm hues of yellow, orange and red, the landscape at Naramata Centre glows with beautiful, welcoming light. The busyness of Summer has faded away, replaced by a peaceful atmosphere that calls to those looking for a pleasant, restful retreat or getaway. Will you answer the call?

Hearts and Hands volunteer week - October 14-21
It's time again to get our hands dirty and our hearts filled! Come join us as we gather in community and collectively care for the Centre. We will prepare the grounds for winter, complete some light building projects and build community as we eat, work and play together.

We will work together from Saturday, October 14 to Friday, October 20. Arrive Friday, October 13 and settle in. Or, arrive the day that works for you!  Come for a short time or stay for the week Please bring gear for garden work, building work and all types of weather.

Kick off the week with us at 9 a.m. Saturday morning for our community welcome circle. We will gather each morning at 9 a.m. to begin our days in community together.

Jenne Newman and her family, Chris Giffen and Clara Lindstrom, Jim and Donna Simpson, and Gwen Dell'Anno will share leadership throughout the week, and create opportunities to engage in community activities, music, conversation and contemplation.

Accommodation is available at no charge and we will share some potluck meals. As well, Columbia Hall is the setting for the highly popular local NaramataSlow Harvest Supper on Sunday, October 15th. This dinner features local meat, produce and wine. You will want to be a part of this! More information about tickets can be found on their site. Tickets are selling quickly - act now if you wish to attend!

Please call the Centre (250-496-5751 or 1-877-996-5751) or email [email protected]  to book your accommodation and to register for the Hearts and Hands event. If you are local and not staying on site, please call or email to register for the event. We look forward to meeting and working with you!

And the Winner Is ...
It took three tries, but
we now have a winner for  our membership draw gift package!

Congratulations to Bronwyn from Victoria, who will enjoy a three-night stay for two at Naramata Centre, lunch at Legends Distilling, and a behind-the-scenes tour of Elephant Island Orchard Wines, with an opportunity to participate in the harvest.

The first name drawn was Darcy from Ontario. He declined the prize package, because he lives a great distance from the Centre and was unable to come. Ron from Penticton, right next door to Naramata, was drawn next. He very generously invited us to draw again so that someone from farther away could enjoy the prize. Two generous offers to pay it forward!

Bronwyn is excited at the opportunity to return to Naramata and the Centre!

Land Sales  Update
As reported in its recent Update, the Board is preparing to repurpose some land to reduce the current footprint of the Centre. Watch for updates as this project proceeds.

To keep local Naramata-area residents informed, a meeting
will be held October 10th at 7 p.m. in Columbia Hall. The Naramata Citizens Association, Parks and Recreation, Naramata Centre Society and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOSwill hold this community consultation evening to update attendees on the Centre's
plans and the process that will be followed.

All are welcome to attend.

Gratitude
Wendy Whelan: We thank Wendy for her service as a campground host in June and again in late August. Campers welcomed Wendy's warm and friendly demeanor  She assisted in the office when a helping hand was needed and was a pleasure to have onsite. Thank you, Wendy!

Summer Community Hosts: Once again we express deep gratitude to our Community Hosts, who are all folks very familiar with Naramata Centre. Their service over many weeks this year, and indeed spanning many years, is highly appreciated  by the Board and Centre participants.

At the Centre, you likely have met Community Hosts in their various roles - welcoming all on Sunday evenings, facilitating the Monday evening activity planning sessions, hosting  activities during the week, leading Sacred Pause, and being available to help all week.

Our sincere thanks go to Tressa Brotsky, Lois Huey-Heck, Natalie Maxson, Jean McLeod, Tim and Donna Scorer, Jim and Donna Simpson, Keri Wehlander. You are a vital part of the Naramata Centre matrix!
