Message From The CEO

Dear colleague,

As we move into the final months of 2026, progress in digital health marches on.

We are witnessing the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence in healthcare, a growing (and welcome) focus on governance, efforts to uplift the digital capability of our workforces and exciting innovations in clinical practice. The opportunities and the responsibilities before our sector have never been greater.

At AIDH, we are focused on ensuring our community is equipped to not only respond to these changes, but to help shape what comes next.

Our upcoming AI Care 2026 Conference is a great example of this. We tackle some big topics in this year’s program: how should ethics shape AI regulation? How do data sovereignty, residency and storage shape the value we get out of data? What of data centres and their social and environmental impact? And what new innovations in AI are reshaping healthcare practice?

It promises to be eye opening and thought-provoking. I hope you can join us at Crown Promenade Melbourne in November.

We are also looking ahead to HIC2027, with expressions of interest now open for our Conference Committee. We want our members to help shape the conversations that matter, bringing bold ideas, diverse perspectives and new thinking to our flagship conference.

Another exciting development for AIDH is the launch of our new Strategic Membership, alongside updates to our overall Organisational Membership structure. These changes reflect the evolving needs of our organisational community and create new opportunities for organisations to connect, contribute and have a stronger voice in the future of digital health.

Ultimately, membership is about more than access to benefits. It is about being part of a community that is helping shape the future of health through digital innovation, data and technology. It will soon be time to renew your membership, and I do hope you will continue to journey with us towards our mission.

Thank you for continuing to be part of this community and for the contribution you make to advancing digital health across Australia and beyond.

Transformation friction: The hidden force derailing digital health programs

17 November 2026 | 2.00pm - 3.30pm (AEDT) ONLINE WEBINAR

Up to 99.5% of digital transformations fail to achieve their intended goals and up to 70% of expenditure can be wasted.

So, what’s really going wrong?

We often look to technology, strategy, methodology or budget for the answer. But new research suggests the real issue may be something else: transformation friction.

Join Dr Natalie Smith, Associate Professor of Practice, The University of Queensland, as she shares findings from a major study involving 100+ organisational leaders across industries, including an in-depth longitudinal study of a live digital health transformation.

The research reveals what consistently separates transformations perceived as successful from those that struggle and, importantly, what boards and executive leaders can do to reduce friction and accelerate outcomes.

In this webinar, explore:

• Why traditional approaches to digital transformation may no longer be fit for purpose

• The three dimensions of transformation friction

• Early warning signs that friction is building

• Evidence-based interventions leaders can use to get transformation moving

If you’re involved in leading, governing or supporting digital transformation, this is a conversation worth joining.
