Message From Our Executive Director
We did it!
This summer, our staff ran a highly educational and fun summer camp program for our community’s middle school students. And now we are continuing the lessons from the summer in our after-school program for many of the same boys and girls.
These are both new programs courtesy of the support we got from Impact 100 Palm Beach County.
At our Steps to Success Middle School Health & Wellness Summer Camp, our kids participated in many new activities that focused on health and wellness, as well as learning academic skills such as computer coding and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). They also visited Miami Seaquarium and Universal's Islands of Adventure park in Orlando – places many of our children rarely get to visit.
Similar activities will continue during our after-school program, which will run through the late spring. Our students will also get visits from local business people and we’ll take them to a grocery store, a bank, and other companies to understand how businesses function and how finances work, so our kids are better prepared for the world to come.
I can’t be more proud of my staff and our families for successfully launching these programs and making a big difference in the lives of our young people. If you want to learn more about these programs, and how you can help us sustain them, please send me an email: RRogers@lakeworthwest.org.
