MEscope App Note 56
Using MAC & SDI to Compare Rotating Machine ODS’s
MEscope contains two different metrics for comparing shapes called the Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC) and the Shape Difference Indicator (SDI). These two metrics are used to numerically compare a pair of shapes, whether they are Operating Deflection Shapes (ODS’s), mode shapes, or shape data in a Shape Table (SHP file).

In this App Note we will take a look at how both MAC and SDI are used
  1. Validate ODS FRF measurements from the rotating machine
  2. Locate a bad ODS FRF measurement
  3. Diagnose several machine unbalance cases

This App Note contains a working MEscope project for download.
