A GREAT networking opportunity!

Reason #1: Our sponsors are the best. Top among them are the Doubletree Bedford Glen Hotel and Brown and Brown Attorneys, who provide principle support for Flavors of Bedford. This event showcases what is the best about Bedford and shouldn't your business be included in that?
Reason #2: You need to eat. What Sunday evening goes by when you don't feel those hunger pangs after a tough day watching the puppies and parents...or whatever it is you do. No matter whether you eat to live or live to eat, Flavors of Bedford is guaranteed to tickle your taste buds with new combinations and lots of familiar fare offered by 20 plus eating establishments.
Reason #3 The Bedford Chamber of Commerce really does care about the town of Bedford! Every dollar raised by this, their premier tasting event, goes to promote Bedford businesses and quality of life. What's more, a portion of the proceeds is dedicated to Friends of Hancom, a group that offers support to the families of deployed soldiers at Hanscom Air Force Base. Now if that isn't about us, what is?
Look who has already committed to support this event - why not join them?

3 Fall Cleaning Tips For Your Business
By Eydie Stumpf

Ahhhhh - those crazy, lazy days of summer. Are you like many people who take the time to slow down during the summer months? As we take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather, we sometimes put our businesses on hold for a while in order to rejuvenate ourselves before the brisk days of fall, and the cold, dark days of winter reappear.
Now that   fall is creeping upon us, I'll be gearing myself up for the coming year. It's time to do some fall cleaning, so let's take a look at three tips to get your fun in the sun plans in gear for next summer:
  • Organization: This is actually an all year round task, but an organized desk is a sure-fire way to keep your business running smoothly. Clear everything off your desk regularly. Dust it down, give it a good polish, and then decide which items should go back on top, which should be filed, and which should simply be trashed. Clearing off and organizing your desk opens up space for new business and money, allowing work to find its way to you. This goes for organizing your computer files and email inbox.
  • Show Up: Whether face-to-face networking, or networking on line using social media sites to connect with prospects and referral partners, you have to show up. Okay, so showing up is not exactly fall cleaning, but often, our summertime calendar gets filled with trips to the beach, BBQs, hiking, biking and other activities, and we put networking on the back burner. Fall is the time to get back to the basics of business networking. Evaluate the networking groups where you have membership. Are they still working for you? Have you given and gotten referrals? Is Facebook still helping you reach out to prospects? Yes? Then continue with what's working. If not, consider other networking options. Whatever you decide - your business isn't going to grow unless you show up.
  • Review your business plan: This is the piece that will really help you take that exotic vacation next summer. Reevaluating, and rebuilding your business plan each year will help you design and run your business to reflect your goals... and how you're going to reach them. The fall is the perfect time to get this done. Review your current plan and ask yourself: Did you reach your goals? Yes or No? Why did you reach them? Why didn't you reach them? What can you replicate? What can you do differently in the new year?
Here's a little tip one of my business coaches drummed into my head some years ago - make sure you schedule your time off BEFORE scheduling your work. You know how we very often forget about ourselves, right? So, get those days off, weekend getaways, and vacations on the books in the fall. Don't wait until next year - do it now!

From The Chamber Office
In order to promote healthy lifestyles among people who live, work and visit the Town of Bedford, Healthy Bedford has a voluntary Healthier Bedford Healthier Dining program for food establishments who wish to be recognized for offering choices of nutritious food in a healthy environment. We have recently amended our requirements to allow more restaurants to participate. The application can be completed online in five minutes or less. If you have questions or need help, please contact Carla Olson at or call 781-275-7727.
Participants are listed in our PR, webpage, social media and also provided a window cling for their establishment noting their participation.

Can Your Business Wall Host a Local Artist ?
The Culture and Arts Working Group had another productive meeting on May 24 discussing several initiatives to elevate Bedford's cultural and arts community to enliven Bedford places, gatherings, and business climate. The group has participants from the Bedford Cultural Council, Selectmen, Chamber of Commerce, First Parish, Planning Board, Bedford Arts and Crafts Society, BCA Photo Group, the Bedford Citizen, and local businesses and artists, and is being facilitated by Alyssa Sandoval, Bedford's Economic Development Director.
The working group discussed moving forward on several initiatives including:
  • Community-wide utility box art program by local artists
  • Commercial space for Local Artists
  • Cultural and Arts Flyer
If your business would be interested in hosting wall or window space for local artists, please contact Alyssa Sandoval, Economic Development Director, at or 718-275-1111. Hosting local art in your venue can be good for your business' visibility and helps to highlight local artwork.

We are so excited to offer our members another new FREE benefit!   We are partnering with o ur friends at Bedford TV to produce a monthly show called CHAMBER CONNECTIONS .  In addition to promoting our events/activities, Chamber members will be interviewed providing great exposure for their business. The show will be broadcast on Public channel and also through their website.  Contact the Chamber if you are interested in learning more.
