Green Game Day Kicks Off at UNM | | |
On Sept. 12, the UNM Office of Sustainability and UNM Recycling, with the support of UNM Athletics launched the first Green Game Day of the 2026 football season. The initiative brought sustainability into the excitement of game day, with members of the UNM Sustainability Corps joining volunteers to help fans recycle at the tailgate.
Students helped staff the Sustainability Corps mobile recycling cart, engaging with fans and collecting recyclable bottles and cans throughout the pre-game festivities. The event provided a hands-on opportunity for students to practice sustainability outreach while helping make game day more resource-conscious.
Green Game Day will continue throughout the football season, with upcoming opportunities for students and volunteers to get involved. Stay tuned for future dates and help us make every game day a little greener.

Help UNM Become a Bike Friendly Campus!
UNM is participating in the League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) program, and we want to hear from our campus community. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members who are familiar with bicycling at UNM are invited to complete the BFU Campus Survey.
Your feedback will help the League better understand bicyclists’ experiences, including campus bicycle programs, facilities, and amenities, and will inform UNM’s BFU evaluation.
Take the survey by Thursday, October 15 at 11:59 P.M.

UNM Tree Tours
Discover the trees that shape UNM’s campus.
The UNM Office of Sustainability is offering new Cultural Use and Climate-Ready Tree Tours, highlighting the ecological, cultural, and educational value of our campus trees. Learn how different species support biodiversity, adapt to New Mexico’s changing climate, and connect to the cultural uses and histories of plants in our region. Visit our campus arboretum page here.
These tours are a great way to explore UNM’s growing arboretum while learning more about the trees and landscapes that make our campus unique.
Interested in a tour? If your department, class, student organization, or campus group would like to receive a Cultural Use or Climate-Ready Tree Tour, contact the Office of Sustainability at lobosust@unm.edu to schedule a tour.

Sustainability Tip: Save Paper, Print Double Sided!
Before you hit print, make the sustainable choice! Select “Print on Both Sides” or “Duplex Printing” in your printer settings to use less paper and reduce waste.
Take the extra step: Make double-sided printing your default whenever possible.
By using less paper, we can conserve resources, reduce waste, and make everyday campus operations more sustainable.
One click can make a difference—print smarter, use less, and help UNM reduce its environmental impact.

Slow down. Pay attention. Connect with the land beneath your feet.

Download Lobo Eats Today!
LoboEats is a campus wide app that enables UNM organizations and departments to post when they have free food available to share with other Lobos. LoboEats connects UNM students, faculty, and staff with organizations and departments that have leftover food from catered events. This app will help reduce food waste and aid food-insecure individuals within the campus community.
UNM event organizers can request to create food posts that will be shared with UNM students, faculty, and staff who use the LoboEats app. LoboEats users can receive notifications when food is available, what type of food is available, and where it is located. Users can also open the app at any time to see if there happens to be food available nearby.
The LoboEats App is available for download at Apple App Store and Google Play. Join the initiative in creating a more sustainable and connected campus community while taking strides to combat food waste and insecurity.
