Southwestern Law School on "Professionalism in the Field of Law"
|

FMBK Partner and Southwestern Law School Alum Megan Green recently presented to law school students of Paul Bateman, PhD. Paul is a Legal Analysis, Writing & Skills professor at Southwestern. In preparation for the panel, Megan was interviewed by two of his student's which Megan used insight from to then facilitate a discussion on the topic of "Professionalism in the Field of Law" during one of their class sessions. Megan, as a proud alum, is regularly contributing her time and legal expertise to current Southwestern Law School Students.

At this year's Annual Levitt Quinn Gala attendees gathered at the Skirball Culutral Center to Honor the 2022 Honorees:

Pictured speaking at the podium is Levitt Quinn Board President Cari Pines and Levitt Quinn Dinner Committee member Steve Mindel. At the dinner the two gave the Mobile Pledge Presentation, which brought in over $34,000 in donations. The Family Law Community's support of this annual gala is crucial for ensuring Levitt Quinn's ability to continue carrying out their noble mission of providing free and low-cost legal counseling to those in need in the greater Los Angeles area.

Super Lawyers Reception

This month, the Thomson Reuters team hosted a SoCal Super Lawyers Reception at the L'Ermitage Beverly Hills.
Jerry Kline (pictured far left) has been recognized by Super Lawyers for over 10 years, and Steve Mindel (pictured 3rd left) Has been recognized for nearly 20 years, and has made the SoCal top 10 list for the past three consecutive years.

In 2022, FMBK had ten attorneys selected to the Super Lawyers Inclusion List, and another five of our attorneys made the Super Lawyers Rising Stars Inclusion list. We are proud to be recognized along some of the best in the legal community, including Stan Friedman (pictured 3rd right) and Gerald Serlin (pictured far right). Not only do Jerry, Steve, Stan and Gerald share a super lawyer status, but they are also all members of the USC Gould Class of 1985!

This summer, The 2022 AAML Southern California Fellows Retreat took place in Beautiful Paso Robles!
The Fellows enjoyed an escape to the rolling hills and picturesque vineyards of the Allegretto Vineyard Resort where they had the opportunity to socialize and catch-up with dear friends in the family law community!
Shannon Miles, SoCal Treasurer, gave an excellent program on Substance Abuse and its impact on the practice of Family Law, and SoCal Fellow, Anne Kiley presented on the ethical challenges that all Family Law Lawyers face on a daily basis. Fellows listened in on these captivating presentations both in person and on Zoom.

To end the weekend, the Fellows sported fedoras, bowties, and feathers at a roaring 20’s themed celebration, decorated and envisioned by AAML Fellow Annette Hall.

This year, The 2022 Cultural Competency in Family Practice seminar celebrated its 10th Anniversary!
This year's program discussed important topics including:
– Systemic and Systematic Changes Needed in Psychology and Family Law
– Keeping Up with Changes in the American Family
– Role of Culture in Family Law Litigation.

CCFP is organized by Abbas Hadjian, Esq. Abbas is an AAML Fellow, Current LACBA Family Law Section Chair and is known nationally and internationally for his lifetime of work in Cultural Competency. At this year's Seminar, Abbas was recognized for his work in founding, cultivating and promoting "Cultural Competency in the Practice of Family Law". Because of Abbas's dedication to his mission, family law professionals all across the globe have a better understanding on these important topics.
