Annual Plymouth Rotary Chicken BBQ n^
Come celebrate the beginning of fall in downtown Plymouth at the Annual Chicken BBQ hosted by the Plymouth Rotary Club.

Every year on the Sunday after Labor Day hundreds of volunteers come together to host this long-standing tradition. The goal of this community gathering has not changed much over the past 61 years. In 1956, the first BBQ was organized with the goal to generate funds for a playground. Today the tradition continues with the goal of bringing community together to raise funds for local charities that benefit the Plymouth community.

The hundreds of chicken dinners are possible because of the dedicated volunteers, many of whom make volunteering at this event a tradition. Community members, students from Plymouth schools, local business owners, and Rotarians all team up. It takes the BBQ committee a full year of meetings and work to make this charity event a success. Weeks before, the Rotarians prepare all of the grates during Rack Cleaning. On Saturday, the day before the BBQ, an expansive grill the length of a parking lot is constructed using hundreds of cement block.

This year's Plymouth Rotary Chicken BBQ is on Sunday, September 10th at 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM or until chicken dinners are sold out. The dinner includes: 1/2 a chicken, corn-on-the-cob, roll w/butter, bottle of water and a cookie. Rotary Chicken BBQ takes place at Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth, MI. A convenient take-out location is located at West Middle School.

All presale tickets are $12.00 and are available for purchase at Horton Plumbing located at 1382 W. Main St. Regular sale tickets are $14.00 and will be available for purchase during the Fall Festival at the Rotary Ticket Booths, which are located at the corners of Ann Arbor Trail & Main Street or Penniman Avenue & Main Street. These tickets can also be purchased at the beginning of the Chicken BBQ dinner pick-up line.
