BDHOA September Newsletter
Hi Barclay Downs Neighbors -

Welcome to September! I hope you all had a relaxing Labor Day weekend and are enjoying these cooler temps, hopefully they are here to stay.

I know I am personally excited about the fall colors, crisp days and all of the pumpkin spice. While Halloween and the other holidays may look different this year I am ready to move into this new season!

Melissa Hovey
BDHOA President
As we move in to election season, here are the key voting dates:
  • October 9 — Regular voter registration deadline
  • October 15 — Early voting begins at 32 sites throughout Mecklenburg County
  • October 27 — Last day you can send in an absentee request form and still get an absentee ballot (make sure you do this way before this date).
  • October 31 — Last day of early voting
  • November 3 — Election Day

Here is a link to an election guide from the Charlotte Agenda on all the candidates running in each contest.

One election that is important to our neighborhood is the District 5 County Commission Election, here are the two candidates that are running so you can learn more about them or feel free to contact them.

A Few Quick Updates

  • Barclay Downs sidewalk construction will start in late fall/early winter of 2020 and is expected to be complete in 9-12 months.

  • The city will not be banding tree's this year. In the last three years, cankerworm populations have plummeted and local arborists believe an extended frost killed the newly hatched caterpillars. More to come on this as we are learning from the city if there are other precautions we need to take to protect our trees. Here is a link to more information.

  • Due to the pandemic, we will not be able to host our neighborhood Halloween Party and Haunted House this year. However, the HOA Social Committee is working on an alternative to have a safe neighborhood Fall celebration. More to come on this!
