The Bells of Immanuel: Rehearses Sundays 9:15AM
If you’re thinking of ringing, we NEED you! The Bells of Immanuel rehearse on Sundays from 9:15 to 10AM downstairs in the music room starting September 16th, if you want to attend the 9:45 service you may leave. Immanuel’s celebrated handbell choir rings recognizable church music, including traditional repertoire, classical sacred literature, and more recent compositions. It is a multigenerational choir and NO musical training is necessary!!! If you can’t commit to every Sunday, talk to Ellen, director, about being a bell substitute ringer! Contact her at if interested or just show up for rehearsal. You will be shown how to ring and which part to read. It’s lots of fun and not too difficult!!
Christmas Cantata: Rehearses Wednesdays 6:45 PM
CALLING ALL MUSICIANS! Rehearsals for the Christmas Cantata will begin Wednesday, September 19th. Rehearsals will be from 6:45 PM every Wednesday until Cantata Sunday, with the exception of the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. This is an opportunity to grow your musical gifts and to have good fellowship with your fellow musicians and disciples of the Lord. I cannot wait to begin this year's cantata and to make some incredible music with all of you again. Experience is not necessary and rehearsal attendance is strongly recommended. There will be CDs and Music Available at the Ministry Fair and at rehearsals. Hope to see a lot of returning faces and many new ones as all are welcome.
Praise Team: Rehearses Wednesdays at 7:30PM
Each week the members of Praise Team faithfully lead worship in song at the 9:45 AM and 11:07 AM worship services. Members also help to lead worship for special services. Weekly rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 8:30 PM! ( this will change to 8-9PM once choir starts) Some musical training would be preferred and members are asked to attend as many rehearsals as possible. Contact Adam Smith @(262)325-7122 or at if you are interested in joining the team!
“RevivaL” Youth Worship Band: Rehearses Tuesdays at 7 PM
Youth Worship Band, RevivaL, meets every Tuesday from 7pm-8pm in the Sanctuary Starting September 18th! RevivaL will lead worship on Wednesday Nights for their fellow youth to help prepare them for a night of learning more about our Awe Inspiring God. Worship will be from 6:05PM until 6:20PM on Wednesdays. Many thanks to those who help serve for these two ministries! If you’re interested in helping, we need you!! Sign up on our Website by clicking “Worship Sign Up”. Thanks!

Summer Fellowship Hour Change: We will continue with signups for fellowship hour on September 2nd as we have been doing this summer. On September 9th the Ministry Fair will be providing some special snacks for our attendees between and during services, so there will not be a separate fellowship hour. From the 16th of September on, we will be back to our schedule with our teams, hopefully with new participants!

IGNITE Middle School & High School Youth Group
We are so excited for another awesome year of Immanuel’s Youth Group! Be sure to keep Wednesdays on your calendar as church night! We’ve decided to have just one name for both Middle School and High School youth group - Ignite!
This year for High School at Immanuel, we hope to begin to tackle the ‘confirmation is graduation from church’ mentality. We’d like to build a solid community of High School students on Wednesday nights - a community where all teenagers know they are welcome and safe. We had an incredible experience on the Mission Trip, building a strong team of High School students. Now we want to draw that into Wednesday nights. We will grow together in faith, in love toward God and one another. Each week, students know that they can find a safe haven to get their spiritual batteries recharged to get the rest of the way through each week. See you on Wednesday nights starting this September!

Wednesdays - Ignite (Confirmation)
5:30 - 7:30 pm
Our regular Ignite youth group will begin to integrate Pr. Sara into the ‘large group’ teaching time. On the surface, Wednesdays will look and feel pretty familiar. Expect to continue to have fun, build friendships, and learn important spiritual lessons. Confirmation students, on top of Wednesday Ignite, will be expected to complete Worship reports, fulfill serving requirements, and have an experience in summer Bible camp or the Mission Trip. We fully expect some students to participate fully on Wednesdays who are not on the ‘confirmation track.’ Our hope is that everyone will find Ignite to be a place where we grow in love for God and toward one another - following Jesus every step of the way!

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th - Ignite Confirmation Parent Meeting!
We will be meeting from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Youth going into 6th to 12th grades and their parents are encouraged to attend, as well as anyone interested in playing a part within this vital ministry.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28th - Confirmation Day!
Confirmation for this year’s 9th graders will happen on Reformation Sunday, Oct. 28th.

Our first “Hearts to Care Ministry” orientation meeting was held on August 19th. We were thrilled to have over 30 people in attendance. There were excellent questions asked. We now have a great start to our volunteer (care giver) team but we are hoping more will step forward. Please become a member of our “Hands to Share” Team—we are looking for more folks who are willing to devote a couple hours, as needed, to help with transportation (especially to and from church), do light housekeeping, shopping/errands and yardwork/snow removal. If you have a heart for people, please come on board!  Applications can be picked up from Bethany in the office or contact Evie. Our next orientation meeting will be held Sunday Night, Sept. 30th at 6:30PM. We would love to see you there! There is nothing better than the feeling you get when you help someone who is struggling. The relief on that person’s face and the gratitude they express and the hugs of thanks are priceless. Contact these core team members for additional information: Mike Brooks, Marilyn Heiden, Judy Guy, Steve Guy, Madeline Killian, Jill or Bob Rosenthal. Or call Evie at (262)728-6542 or email her at You will be blessed to be a blessing!  God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help others ~ 1 Peter 4:10-11

"Stitchin' for Kids"
The Wednesday morning quilters have a special project in the works. They are making fleece blankets for the children who come to The Tree House (Children's Advocacy Center, Elkhorn) due to suspected physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect. Age range is anywhere from a couple weeks old to 17 years of age. This can be a traumatic experience for these precious souls and the Tree House staff has found that if they are able to give them a "Lovie" when they arrive, or leave, it helps calm and sooth the children while the process is taking place.  If you would like to help with this worthwhile endeavor, many hands make the project go quickly and it’s fun! Contact Jackie Kuehl for more info. Another way to be involved is to give a monetary donation to help offset the cost of each blanket ($20 per blanket). Donations can be placed in an envelope with "Stitching for Kids" on the outside and left with Bethany in the church office. If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and put "Stitchin' for Kids" on the memo line. This as an ongoing project. Last year 300+ children were served at the Tree House...that is a lot of blankets. Thank you for whatever you can do to be of assistance to these children.
Lay Communion Visitors
Newcomers welcome to join this important ministry for shut-in members. Pastor Carl will meet with Shut-In visitors on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7PM in the conference room. There will be training for visitors and new materials for all. We will
discuss concerns and new ideas for visiting more Shut-Ins. Pastor Carl is adding new Shut-Ins to the list as he visits them. Please contact Kristin Larkin at 414-491-1969 or email her at for more info. Also, if you have names of members who have indicated they would be in need of a visit please let Kristin or Bethany know and they will be added to the list of people enjoying visits from this wonderful ministry.
Tree House
August was a big event night—the Tree House partnered with local law enforcement agencies, firefighters,
EMTs and numerous other community groups, to promote safety and awareness AND have fun, at The National Night Out held at the fairgrounds in Elkhorn. This year for the first time there was a walk/run event as well. Over 1500 people attended, which was cost free to all. Watch for this awesome family event next year! Thank you to everyone who contributed items for the back to school back pack event at The Tree House. As always, our congregation has been more than generous sharing our blessings with those less fortunate—more on this next month.
St. Vincent De Paul (Milwaukee) Soup Kitchen
Our next service date is November 18th.  A Carpool leaves from Immanuel at 4pm. We hope that many of you who wish to serve can do so. We are sometimes overwhelmed with the number of “guests” that come with the few of us there to serve them. Your participation in this ministry is greatly appreciated,
especially from those served who tell us “may God bless you”. “Many thanks to all who made our service to the Milwaukee Soup Kitchen on August 19th another great showing on behalf of all at Immanuel who gave themselves and/or needed items for the “guests” there. There were 12 of us that served over 200 guests in a hot and steamy basement area. Some stayed after the meal, including kitchen clean up, to clean tables, chairs etc.  Among the guests was a family with six little girls that was served and were very polite and thankful. Steve Guy arranged to bring 40 air mattresses which were highly received. We also gave 5 sleeping bags as well as blankets, toiletries, shoes and milk. Casey, the supervisor, told me how thankful he was for the extreme generosity shown by Immanuel. He also said they had no milk for that evening meal until we brought 32 gallons. I’m feeling proud to be with you all.” ~ God’s blessings, Bob
