We can now benefit St. Catherine's when we buy something on Amazon via its "Smile" program. They will donate 2 percent of the purchase price for all your purchases to the charity of your choice.
Click on "Smile" at the top of the Amazon website and choose St. Catherine of Siena Episcopal Church as your charity. (Or use this LINK.) Two percent of your purchase will go to St. Catherine's, and it could really mount up. Thanks to Sally Dickinson for setting this up.
From the pen of our Interim Priest ...
Dear Sisters and Brothers and Friends of St. Catherine’s,
What an awesome day we had on Sunday, August 28 with our 15th Birthday Eucharist and Brunch Celebration! We were most honored with the presence of our bishop who shared some very supportive and encouraging words in challenging us with this moment of our history as we seek some major transitions.
Special “Thanks” to Liz Skogerson and Heather Nusbaum and all their helpers for the hospitality service, as well as to all the chefs and food donors! Special thanks also to Sally Dickson and LaJuana Bryan for the commemorative bulletin and slide presentation. We are also grateful for Rev. Laurie Chappelle and her presentation of our history. What a wonderful day and celebration!
I want to briefly give you an update with the work of the Property Search Committee. We are exploring as many options as we can and thus far have looked at three south Reno parishes for sharing their space; and one commercial property of 1200 square feet. As a result of the decision of our Vestry with their August meeting, we have responded to the bishop’s offer to assist us with a commercial realtor to do two things: examine options for relieving us of our present lease and locating an affordable commercial property in south Reno. It is with the guidance of a commercial realtor that we can efficiently and adequately research and see commercial properties. With any of these options we are looking for at least a three-year commitment.
With the specific options presently before us, we have created a list for each of positive and negative aspects as we will continue to do with other realistic options that come before us. With this inventory thus far, we realize that no one option is going to be prefect. There will have to be compromising with whatever choice we make. The important thing is for us to put forth the options that will best serve the greater good of the parish in achieving our future goals and mission. Your prayers and patience, and open minds will be important in this process. It is not about us and individual needs or wants, but about the work of God that needs to continue to work in and through us as a faith community. We hope that soon we will have enough information to make a presentation for Vestry and then for the parish community. We will keep you updated.
We are most thankful for the Property Search Committee: for Rev. Marla Asson, Charlie Dickinson, Alison Gordon, Chris Goss, and Beth Osborne for their time and dedication to this endeavor.
A note from Rev. Laurie
It was a joy to be with you on Sunday to celebrate 15 years of service to God and to the community of South Reno. Thank you for all the time, talent and treasure you have given to St. Catherine's. It was good to see people I hadn't seen in a while, and good to meet new members of the congregation. Thank you for your lovely hospitality. Blessings upon you.

It's the Fall Season of Senior Bundles
By Linda Kodet
We are beginning our Fall Season Senior Bundles project for Life Care Center soon. We will start collecting on Sunday, Sept. 4 and will finish on Sunday, Sept. 25.
The Center has expressed tremendous gratitude for the ongoing generosity of our parish, for bringing some joy into the lives of their patients as they do the hard work of rehabilitation and healing.
About 25 percent of the residents are permanent, the other 75 percent are working hard to heal and get back to their lives.
The display board and collection boxes will be inside the front door of the church, so you can take a reminder card with all the info, decide what you’d like to bring, and leave your donation in one of the collection boxes on any Sunday from 9/4 – 9/25.
Thank you very much for your generosity. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions: Linda Kodet, 831-776-9337,email@example.com.
