Camp Kawartha's mission is to inspire environmental leaders and stewards of all ages through dynamic, accessible, year-round outdoor programming and powerful partnerships to create meaningful change.

An Open House Warms Our Hearts!

Jim Coyle and Wendy Hill made their recent open house party into a unique fundraiser for Camp Kawartha! Guests were invited to attend an amazing event at their beautifully renovated home and celebrate the vision that they had which is now a dazzling reality! Part of the invitation was a request for each guest to donate to us, thereby helping us continue our post-pandemic and post-derecho recovery!

"It was a pleasure for us to host this event. An open house to showcase our new home, Tebey and his Band entertained our guests, and invited guests donated in excess of $52,000 to Camp Kawartha. The generosity of our neighbours and friends is heartwarming to say the least. Keep up the good work at Camp Kawartha. The youth of today are fortunate to have a facility like Camp Kawartha which nurtures them to become the leaders of tomorrow." Jim Coyle

Adventures in Understanding

When the wild rice is standing tall, and those cool nights feel like fall,

Let’s go paddling Let’s go paddling on the river.

Up though the lake each day on the ancient routes of the Anishinaabe

Let’s go paddling, Let’s go paddling on the river……

-AIU Paddle Song 2023

The Pathway to Stewardship & Kinship Celebrates!

The Pathway Project, conceived by Camp Kawartha involves over 40 organizations all working together to provide stewardship experiences throughout each and stage of a child’s development, from early childhood right to the end of high school.

A celebration was held on September 17th at the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre. Awards were given out to the many teachers, early childhood educators, consultants and supporters who helped to make this project a reality.

Our Media Specialist is Moving on After 10 Years!

We are so sad to announce that Paige 'Burnsy' Mahoney, our Communications Coordinator/Social Media Manager, has decided to move on.

Paige has a long history with Camp Kawartha spanning more than 20 years: first as a camper, then a counsellor, then as Summer Camp Registrar, and finally as Communications Coordinator.

She is adept, creative, always great at what she took on for us, and has been integral to the development of our online presence. She is also funny, quick with a smile, has a million CK stories, usually has a knitting project in her bag, and is always very happy to show you photos of her cat or her latest adventure.

We will miss you, Paige! Thank you for 10 wonderful years!

Millipedes

The Office Staff often go for post-lunch walks – to digest and to get away from those darn computers! We’ve noticed this summer many millipedes plowing through leaf-litter, over logs, even across pavement!
