Creating a happy, healthy community, one adjustment at a time.
| |
As the new school year begins and schedules start to fill up, it's more important than ever to stay on top of your chiropractic care. Consistent adjustments are key to maintaining your health and well-being, even during the busiest times. To accommodate your needs, our office is open Monday to Friday, with additional availability every other Saturday. We encourage you to book your appointments regularly, and remember that you can see any of our doctors to ensure you’re following your recommended care frequency. If your usual doctor isn’t available, don’t hesitate to book with another to keep your care on track. And for the month of September, we’re offering complete new patient exams for just $50—so it’s the perfect time to refer friends or family members who might benefit from chiropractic care!
An Important Message From Dr. Dianne:
Hi Everyone! I’m writing to let you know that unfortunately I will be out of the office effective September 6, 2024 for approximately 8 months.
I know this comes as a bit of a surprise to you and me both! As some of you may know, when I was a teenager, I was in a serious car accident that resulted in heart surgery and an aortic graft. Recently I have had some funky symptoms that have led to the discovery of a thoracic aneurysm at my old surgical site that is growing rapidly. I am so grateful that it has been found and can be fixed, but I will be having open heart surgery for the repair on September 18 and am required to isolate in advance of the surgery.
I hope that you can forgive me for not telling you all in person, but while in office I wanted to ensure that your health and adjustments remained my utmost priority. Behind the scenes I have been working hard to ensure that you will be incredibly well cared for while I am out of office.
While I am away I am beyond grateful and excited that Dr. Pam Manning will be caring for my practice. Dr. Pam brings to you the same level of knowledge, expertise and care that I have. She has extensive experience having had her own family practice in Markham for 25 years before deciding to support other Docs and their practices by becoming a locum Doctor. For more details, please see her bio in this newsletter. While I am healing and getting myself back to optimal function, please know that you will all be in amazing hands.
The best thing you can all do to support me is to support your own health and keep yourselves functioning at your best by staying on track with your care. This is a great reminder for me that stressors happen that we don’t expect or control, and it is imperative that we are always in the best place to manage them. I will be here behind the scenes so know that should you need anything from me directly my amazing team will pass on any messages to me.
Of course, in addition to Dr. Pam, our regular amazing team of Dr. Leanne and Dr. Sarah as well as our incredible team of CA’s are here to support you.
Our team will keep you up to date regarding my return, I’m sure I will be in the office periodically between now and then (you know I can’t stay away).
Dr. Dianne

As the back-to-school season approaches, it’s important to help kids with ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) transition smoothly. Here are five essential steps to make this period easier for both children and parents:
- 😴 Reset Sleep Schedules Gradually: Start adjusting your child's sleep schedule a few weeks before school begins. Gradually moving bedtime earlier can significantly improve focus and emotional regulation once the school year kicks off.
- 🏠 Create an Organized Home Environment: Establish routines and set up designated spaces within your home to reduce distractions. A well-organized environment helps children feel more secure and enhances their ability to focus on daily tasks.
- 📚 Set Up a Distraction-Free Study Space: Design a specific area for studying, free from distractions, to promote better focus and efficiency during homework time. This space should be quiet, comfortable, and well-lit.
- 🏃♂️ Prioritize Exercise and Movement: Physical activity, especially in the morning, plays a crucial role in boosting cognitive function and emotional balance. Encourage regular exercise to help your child start the day on the right foot.
- 🧠 Consider Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care: It's number 5 for us! 👏 Why?! We know that ADHD + SPD are brain and nervous system-based disorders. While conventional medicine and traditional pediatricians may still attribute these challenges to a genetic imbalance of neurotransmitters, this theory is increasingly outdated and incomplete.
Children struggling with ADHD, SPD, and even anxiety often experience an overactive or “stuck on” sympathetic fight or flight response, a state we call having the “gas pedal” constantly engaged. This nervous system dysregulation, or dysautonomia, keeps them in a heightened state of alertness, even at rest.
So, what can we do about it, especially before school starts? The first step is to get your child a Neurological INSiGHT Scan at our office! This scan gives our doctors a clear picture of what’s happening within your child's nervous system and helps us design a customized care plan just for them! 🌟 Visit the link in our bio by clicking on the image above, to learn more!

Millie was born with her umbilical cord around her neck 3 times which resulted in having torticollis and laryngomalacia. At 3 months old, Millie was told she would need to be admitted to Sick Kids for a genetic testing, put through an ECG, MRI and full blood work panel. She would be admitted in the NICU after being told she was functioning as an 1 month old, with a ‘floppy’ neck, asymmetrical facial features, unable to make eye contact and held her fists too tight. Here we start her journey into chiropractic care!
Only after a few adjustments, we began to notice big changes! Millie’s fists started opening, the asymmetrical facial features were disappearing and no longer held herself in her “safe position” anymore. Millie’s adjustments have gone from 5 times a week, to 3, and now 2! Slow and stead as all best things take time.
Millie is now functioning at an appropriate age level! A master of tummy time, rolling herself over, she is also able to look left and right with ease! Millie’s laryngomalacia is now absent and with an MRI complete, she has been given an all clear, with zero concerns to her development! Millie is consistent with her weekly sessions and very generous with her sweet smiles!
Thank you Millie and to her family for allowing us to share their wonderful journey! For more success stories and tips on maintaining optimal health, stay tuned to our newsletter and feel free to share your own experiences with us!
