Facing rapid change, it can be difficult for cities to anticipate and adapt to new economic forces. Communities that do not invest in their  technological infrastructure education systems , and  quality of place , however, risk being left behind in the years ahead.

Onward NRV Receives 3 SEDC Awards for Regional Marketing - A big congrats to Onward NRV for winning three awards from SEDC for their new river stone branding! The purpose of the branding is to showcase the New River Valley as a place to live, work, and play.

Big Pflugerville Land Sale Yields Ample Office, Industrial Space - The City of Pflugerville and the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation just finalized a $3.4 million land sale deal with IGX who purchased 205,000 feet of office and industrial space in the community. The PCDC and IGX plan to work together to recruit companies to the area that will increase jobs and investment in the community.

Behind the big merger: 'We’re doing this to be better at executing what we need to do around economic development' - The Charlotte Regional Partnership and the Charlotte Chamber are merging to combine the strengths and assets of the two organization to better promote regional economic development. Although there are many details of the merger that are still to be determined, ultimately the new entity will further strengthen regional economic development efforts.

Report says Northeast Florida can be Nation's No. 1 economy - The Avalanche team wrapped up and presented the final Elevate Northeast Florida economic development strategy in Jacksonville to over 100 regional stakeholders. The presentation covered the major recommendations in the report that will further strengthen the Jacksonville region's target industries, marketing campaigns, and smart technology.

It's finally fall, and we're thrilled to see the leaves changing and the return of college football!

This month, Chris and John traveled to Toledo, OH to start a talent alignment strategy for the Toledo Chamber, and had a fun evening cheering for the Mud Hens. Tony spent a fun two days in West Palm Beach, FL unveiling the results of the City's new economic development study. We also put the finishing touches on the Elevate Strategy - a five-year eco dev plan for the seven-county Jacksonville, FL region. We are going to miss our regular trips to that beautiful community. John and Amy had an action-packed time in Columbus OH, where they met Brutus Buckeye. Next, Amy was at the GEDA Annual Conference, where she moderated a panel on the Atlanta Regional Commission's CATLYST strategy with key partners. We ended the month at the Ag & Animal Science Conference in Willmar, MN, where Tony spoke about the future of the agricultural economy. Here are a few photos of our team in action:
